Old Luckett Station is a former railway station (1872-1966) which started life as a mineral railway transporting minerals and aggregates from the local mines. The Station closed for a while at the turn of the century and Luckett Station (originally Stoke Climsland Station), as we see it today, was built and eventually re-opened in 1908 to serve both the travelling public and as a goods station ser
ving the local area. In its day it transported goods to and from Calstock/Plymouth/London including parcels, flowers, strawberries and livestock. We (Tim and Jacqui Selwood) bought the Old Station back in August 2017 and have been renovating it's gardens, outbuildings and grounds ever since and... I suspect we always will be...
The Signal Box, our first holiday cabin, opened in early 2018 followed by The Sidings in early 2020, but sadly due to the pandemic it was closed again just as we opened...

The two holiday cabins are set privately in completely different locations in the station grounds and both have their own private entrances and private exclusive large hot tubs. Guests repeated shared feedback state their reasons for returning being the amazing panoramic views of the Tamar Valley and Dartmoor National Park although the private hot tub, privacy, peace and quiet repeatedly come a close second...

We are delighted to have celebrated our one year anniversary at The Waiting Room Pool yesterday (24th March), a big THANK YOU to everyone who has hired The Waiting Room Pool over the past year.
We now average around 140 hire bookings every month with thousands of hirers from all over Devon, Cornwall and beyond and new hirers hearing about, and booking our facilities every single week.
Our hire ratio now runs at around 40% regular hirers to 60% new hirers.
In the past year the pool has featured in The Western Morning News, Cornwall and Devon Live and on the BBC South West. Amazing 🙏
We have learned much over the past year about what works well and is the right fit for us and our pool and business and our preference is understandably, for hirers who respect our pool, our facilities and keep to their hire time slot!
Good news for our regular hirers, we are currently considering a membership option which will provide some benefits for our loyal regular customers - we are working on this at the moment.
It's a good moment to mention that we no longer offer a children's party package finding this hire type too challenging on our pool, our home and on us. We prefer family and friends groups and we want children to benefit from their own parents/family looking after them whilst using our facilities going forward.
We have lots of plans and ideas for the future and we are committed to keeping our pool open 7 days a week for the next twelve months.
There is still availability for the Easter week and we will be opening extra time slots, in the coming days, as we often open slots at very short notice as we manage our own down time and tend to hold some slots back to give us a break, they can become available at short notice so time slots are changing pretty much daily.
If you'd like to hire the pool and can't find availability, always feel free to drop us a text or an email, we keep a waiting list and try hard to slot hirers in when and where we can and cancellations do happen.
