The 2022 Illuminations season opens 3 weeks tomorrow!

If you haven't booked yet, a reminder it's **cheaper** to book in advance online at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/illuminations - and accompanied under 16s once again go FREE!

We say this every year but please note we can never guarantee tickets will be available on the night, especially for our popular fireworks nights 💥, all but one of which sold out in advance last year.

We have fireworks finales every Saturday in October this year, plus a low noise display on the final night of the season, Sunday 30 October.

The new season runs every weekend from 10 September to 30 October and the centrepiece of every Illuminations - the famous decorated boats - will parade at every event and there will be children's theme characters every Saturday and Sunday too, plus stilt walkers and our new 2022 attraction: a tunnel of lights across the River Derwent.

Stunning image of the beautiful Peak District 😍

It's Heather Time! The moors, hills and edges of the Peak District are covered in soft blooms of purple now, lighting every slope. I defy anyone not to smile when they see it - although I must admit that I always feel a teeny tinge of sadness too, because for me it means that Summer is drawing to a close. This is the evening view from Higger Tor down over Ringinglow and across to Eyam Moor beyond.

Yesterday we spent a little time ‘titivating’ which resulted in us changing the kitchen door k***s from these horrid varnished wooden ones (we’ve never liked them but inherited them with the kitchen) to something a little more elegant!
