A few lovely photos from one of our groups at the weekend who headed into the wilds of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park for 3 days.

They choose to camp, so were loaded up with camping gear, braved the thunderstorms and were rewarded with some stunning views. Even if they did have to work to get there!

Our favourite wild swim spot is looking pretty special at the moment. Still haven’t seen anyone else here. Feels like you’re in a rain forest. So intensely green.

We’ve been very quiet on the old socials the last month or so. Roam is a small family run business, but the family just got a bit bigger, and we’ve moved to a new HQ. Lots going on! More to come on that as we ramp up for the upcoming season.

A more ideal situation to chew someone’s ear off?
A finer stress release scenario?
Is there?
There isn’t is there?

Our Tywi & Cothi Loop is probably the closest we have to an ‘easy’ route, but it’s not easy, it’s just a bit easier than the other routes we have.

It’s wonderfully picturesque, following lazy lanes, lush river valleys, a short hike-a-bike through a field (you’ve been warned), nice cafes, distant castles and wild swim opportunities.

🤩 A great introduction to bikepacking without straying far from the comforts of civilisation.

💪 We’ve rated this route Moderate. No major climbs, but distances just shy of 30 miles a day means it’s no slouch

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’’We had a great ride- despite the rain! Amazing scenary. Some challenging, steep hills on a wonderful route. Joe organised everything perfectly. We felt there was nothing he hadn’t thought of and we really appreciated this. We would definitely book again and explore more of Wales.’’

Extra satisfying to get a 5 star review when it had been heavy rain for most to the trip! Thanks Rachel for this lovely review.

We love it when groups send us photos of their trip. For the ultimate sense of adventure, our trips are self guided, so these photos give us give us a great glimpse into their experience.

These are just some of our favourite from 2023.

1. South Snowdonia. This group had amazing weather and this day was hot. This little path is a detour down to the most amazing waterfall pools. It’s not the easiest to find, so I’m always happy when I hear they found it. And on this day, I think it was much needed.

2. Black Mountains. This is such a great action shot, ducking under one of the many low bridges over the Brecon & Monmouthshire canal. Nearly home from here.

3. South Snowdonia. It’s not often people get their camera out when it’s raining, but this group captured monsoonal rain and I absolutely love how they are embracing it.

4. Tour of Cadair Idris. This group of dads and their kids have done a trip every year roams been going and it always amazes me how capable the kids are. This is half way up a hefty climb on a windy day. They loved it.

5. Wild West Wales. Our first ever group to do this route. A lot of work goes into planning new routes and I always hope groups enjoy a new routes as much as I do. This road on day 3, high on the moors above Llyn Brianne is spectacular. They gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Some of our routes pass through wild, remote and sparsely inhabited parts of the country where you can expect to go most of the day without passing a shop, without phone signal* and exposed to the elements.

This is what creates the ‘wilderness’; so if you have a taste for adventure and a desire for some big open spaces, head this way.

For maximum wilderness try our Elan Valley, Cambrian Mountains, South Cambrians or Wild West Wales routes.

*we provide you with an Inreach device which enables 2 way text communication, even if there is no phone signal, so you can always contact us if you need to.

Made a few tweaks to our Tywi & Cothi Loop route to include the beautiful swim spot pictured.

I love this route. I only rode half of one day, but there is so much to see and with a swim in the Tywi, a cheeky bit of gravel and a short hike-a-bike through a beautiful national trust estate meadow, it’s a real corker.

New route - Tywi & Cothi Tour

This route is probably the closest we have to an ‘easy’ route, but it’s not easy, it’s just easier than the other routes we have. Mellow.

It’s very picturesque and as the name suggests, starts by tracing the quiet and wonderfully pretty Cothi River and heads back up the Tywi Valley. Forested lanes, lots of river hugging, a short hike-a-bike, nice cafes, distant castles and plenty of wild swim opportunities.

🤩 A great introduction to bikepacking without straying far from the comforts of civilisation.
