The Rustbox Rallies chaos has officially hit the roads!

Teams have been spotted making their way up to the NC500 start line, and as expected, subtlety is not in the game plan. We’ve got a car-turned-fire-engine, a rolling bonfire, a moo-ving tribute to all things bovine, and of course, the world-famous Meowdi leading the charge.

Joining the madness— a Twingo bumblebee buzzing along and a Saab convertible adding a touch of (questionable) class to the convoy. If you see them out in the wild, give them a wave… or maybe just a moment to process what you’re witnessing.

🔥 Introducing Team 44 – The Rusty Cowboys 🔥

Rolling into the NC500 with all 63 raging horsepower, it’s Team 44 – The Rusty Cowboys! They’re tackling the route in a Fiat Fiorino that’s been through its fair share of adventures… including a brief stint abandoned in a car park after losing its brakes. But fear not—it’s been resurrected and is (probably) ready to take on the Scottish Highlands!

With flames painted on the bonnet, this little fridge-on-wheels might look familiar to some. Whether it makes it to the finish line or not, one thing’s for sure—it’s going to be one hell of a ride!

🚗🔥 Team 28 – Break It & Bodge It 🔥🚗

Anthony and Jake are finally making it happen! After years of wanting to take on a Rustbox Rally, 2024 is their year—and they’re bringing their Mk1 Audi TT, complete with a touch of urban camouflage, to take on the NC500.

It might be an old rust box, but they’re determined to get it around Scotland, meet some incredible people, and soak up the epic scenery along the way. Will it survive the adventure? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure—they’re here to send it!

🚒🔥 Introducing Teams 41/42/43 – The Last Parade 🔥🚒

This one is extra special.

After 30 years of dedicated service with West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, Nick is celebrating his 60th birthday and retirement in the most unforgettable way—by hitting the NC500 with his family in a full fire-themed convoy!

Seven family members, three cars, and one epic tribute to a lifetime of firefighting. Their fleet includes a Skoda Fabia fire car and two fire engines—a Seat Ibiza and a Ford Focus, all meticulously decorated, complete with working water cannons. These engines are ready to chase their fire around Scotland, making sure this last parade is one to remember.

Nick, this one’s for you! Thank you for your service, and here’s to the adventure ahead! See you at the start line.

🚗 Team Gelf – Car 4 🚗

We’re just 2 days away from the start of the NC500 Rally, and father-son duo Alex & Dave are raring to go in their red Mk7 Golf!

These two have always wanted to take on Scotland’s finest roads, and with Alex’s racing licence and two seasons of competition under his belt, he’s keen to swap the track for the twists and turns of the Highlands. Dave’s in for one hell of a ride—though whether he’ll get a turn behind the wheel is another question!

Bring on the adventure, the banter, and the battle to keep the Golf in one piece. See you at the start line!

🚗 Team 29 – Fash & Furious are BACK! 🚗

With just TWO DAYS to go until the Rustbox Rallies NC500, Team Fash & Furious are gearing up for their second adventure! Their £700 Mercedes C-Class proved itself last year, so it’s back for another 1,200-mile test of endurance, scenery, and questionable decision-making—and yes, Freddie the Fash is along for the ride once again! 🐟

Last time, the car was solid, but their fishing skills? Let’s just say they’re hoping for better luck on the lochs this year 🎣

This time, they’re raising money for Edinburgh Community FC 2014s, a grassroots football club that provides young players aged 9-11 with the opportunity to develop their skills, teamwork, and confidence. Funds raised will help supply kits, equipment, and competition entries to keep the team thriving.

🔥 Introducing Team 15 – Blue Smoke 🔥

Jonathan and Darren are back for their 4th Rustbox Rally and taking on the NC500 for the second time in their trusty Renault Megane. This 17-year-old machine is decked out with race car-inspired stickers, but this old girl is unlikely to be setting any records!

They’ve kept the Megane going for another year—now it’s time to see if it can handle the twists, turns, and epic scenery of the Highlands once again. More importantly, they’re fundraising for Heart Research UK, so give them a wave and show your support!

Meet Team 22 – Wrong Direction!

Back for another shot at the NC500, mother-and-son duo Leighton and Tricia are hoping to actually head in the right direction this time! Leighton’s on driving duty, while Tricia’s armed with an A-Z road map to ensure they don’t repeat last year’s uphill misadventure.

Their car’s journey began with a questionable sale advert, but now it’s rally-ready (or as ready as it’ll ever be). Will they master the map or find themselves on another unexpected detour? Either way, it’s all part of the adventure!

🐝 Introducing Team 39: The Billingham Bees! 🐝

These three are buzzing with excitement for the NC500—and they’re doing it in their tiny black Renault Twingo! 🖤

Why the Twingo? In their own words: “Our friend’s nana wanted rid, so we put in a cheeky bid!” Now, with a few “niggly issues” to sort out, the Bees are gearing up for an unforgettable adventure.

They’ve been inspired to join ever since seeing the legendary Toybaru at the Auto Alex show last year. Now it’s time for their turn to take on Scotland’s iconic route—three up in a true Rustbox classic!

Let’s give Team Billingham Bees a big Rustbox welcome and cheer them on as they prep for the journey of a lifetime!

Introducing Team 20 – The Muckspreaders!

Hailing from Royal Wootton Bassett, Team 20 is ready to take on their first Rustbox Rallies adventure in style – and by style, we mean an Isuzu truck transformed into Doris the Dairy Cow! They’re rolling up as part of the same big family as Teams Bassett Bangers and AWOL, and they’re hoping Doris has what it takes to conquer the hills of the NC500.

The Muckspreaders are raising money for Headway, a charity supporting adults with traumatic and acquired brain injuries. Keep an eye out for their one-of-a-kind bovine banger on the road!

🏴‍☠️ Introducing Team 19 – The Bassett Bangers! 🏴‍☠️

It’s a family affair for Team 19, as they set sail on the NC500 in their pirate ship-themed Vauxhall Zafira! With Naomi at the helm and four new crew members joining the Rustbox Rallies adventure for the first time, they’re ready to take on the Highlands in true swashbuckling style.

But they’re not sailing solo – they’re teaming up with Cars 20 and 24 for the journey, bringing even more chaos and camaraderie to the road. More importantly, they’re doing it all for a great cause, raising money for Headway, a local charity supporting those with brain injuries.

Introducing Team 37 – I Don’t Believe It!

Patience is a virtue… or so they say! Team 37, I Don’t Believe It, are still waiting for their 17-year-old Honda Civic to arrive, and with the NC500 just around the corner, the suspense is real. Will it turn up in time? Will it survive the journey? Or will they be forced into a last-minute backup plan?

One thing’s for sure – if (or when) the Civic finally lands, it’s got one hell of an adventure ahead! Stay tuned to see if they make it to the start line.

🚗 One Week to Go: Meet Team Greased Lightning! 🚗

With just one week until the NC500 kicks off in Fort William, we’re thrilled to introduce Team 6: Greased Lightning—back for their second rally with Rustbox Rallies!

This time, they’re taking on the route in their £350 Volkswagen Passat, which recently sailed through its MOT (“drives well, can’t wait to get some graphics on it for the journey!”). With 140k miles on the clock, it’s ready to prove you don’t need a brand-new car to conquer Scotland’s epic roads.

Even better, Team Greased Lightning is rallying for a cause—raising £1,000 for the Atrial Fibrillation Association. Let’s give them a massive shoutout as they prepare for another unforgettable Rustbox adventure!

Need a last-minute NC500 ride? Look no further!

Spotted this absolute Rustbox Rallies spec gem for sale—a black Vauxhall Corsa, listed as having “a few scratches” (not sure if they meant before or after it ended up upside down).

If your current rally chariot is looking a bit worse for wear, or you’re suddenly realising you need something with extra aerodynamics, this could be your golden ticket. It’s got character, battle scars, and possibly a very unique handling experience.

NC500 kicks off next week—so if you’re desperate, here’s your chance to turn things around (literally).

Introducing Team 11 – The Quick Finishers!

Rolling up (hopefully) in style, The Quick Finishers are bringing a Jaguar S-Type to the NC500… but there’s one small problem – a gearbox issue they haven’t quite figured out yet. Will they make it to the start line, or will the Jag decide to retire before the adventure even begins?

Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – if they do make it, they’ll be taking on the Highlands in pure British luxury (or at least attempting to). Fingers crossed for a smooth ride!
