Not very often we open the bottom of the garden to allow sheep in, but yesterday the way the snow was blowing there wasn't much shelter in the field. The garden is walled all round so felt happier they could get shelter. Seems this one this morning was quite happy staying there🤎

When a new mineral block arrives no manners are involved. You just have to battle it out. Houdini and Dotty first come first served although Herdy Bear and Snowdrop do have a good try. When the excitement settles down all is calm and manners are resumed #herdwicks #minerals

On changeover on the holiday barn today after the guests had enjoyed a few days away with family over the festive period. After feeding the flock closer to the farmhouse I headed up to the small flock higher up on the farm. Bramble being curious last week. I was sat sheltering by the wall watching the flock when he meandered over. I love Bracken's quick check to see if he's OK then carries on munching. We had to catch him & the other lambs today, he was limping on his front leg & we wormed them all. #herdwicks #hillfarm #sheep #farmstay #peakdistrict

Clover's progress is slow but positive. She's drinking very little but each day it is getting slightly more. I've started taking her round the small paddock to build her strength up. Raven lambed today. I found her with lamb presented correctly but she was struggling. I helped pull it out but she wasn't interested at all. She just lay there in shock. The 2nd lamb soon arrived, again no interest. I sheltered the lambs from the cold wind until she came around. She started to clean them up which was a relief. She followed us lovely back to the shed where they could have some time to bond & we could check her milk was OK & see to the lambs. She had one of each & is doing well this evening. Herdy Bear has a sore back foot. Luckily she had wandered into the shed with Lunar, so no racing around trying to catch her. We clipped & sprayed her foot couldn't really see anything. I sat, I waited, Houdini came. Then we got invaded by Newt 😍 Its taken nearly 2 years from lock down to get to this point. The feeling is quite incredible. Most days now he will come & say hello. Extremely special. #herdwicks #farmlife #hillfarm #sheep
