We were recently inspected on our policies and procedures along with our activity provision and its links with the National Curriculum. A big thanks to our activity instructors and outdoor learning practitioners for demonstrating quality provision.

We are currently having a productive and enjoyable week in the New Forest while participating in a Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award program. We are pleased that the weather has improved, allowing us to fully engage in outdoor activities.

Last week we took a client to Eryri (Snowdonia) to run a mountain skills course in preparation for her ML Assessment. We experienced low visibility (good practice) and sun! Typical for Wales! Great effort! And good luck for your upcoming assessment!

As we celebrate international mountain day it is important for us to remember that these precious environments are under constant threat. The effects of climate change and the overexploitation of these mountains are increasing the risks to both us and the planet.

Here in the UK our mountainous regions have certainly seen an impact from hundreds of years of agriculture and industry and now with increased tourism over the last few years.

Key facts - Up to 80% of all freshwater comes from our mountains, with at least half of the world population dependant on the world’s mountains.

In September I travelled to Madeira where the entire Islands agriculture was dependant on the Levadas which transported Mountain Water down and around the Island.

If your heading out to the Mountains consider the following

- Be prepared! Be Adventure Smart

- Travel Smart and Sustainably

- Be respectful. Keep dogs on the lead, keep to the paths to help combat erosion.

- Leave No Trace. Take everything with you (including your banana skins)

- Enjoy it. These green spaces are incredible for the mind and soul. Just enjoy it safely!

Snowdonia. The best place for undertaking some continuous professional development, even if it was classroom based! Over the weekend I (Stephen) undertook an Off Site Safety Management (RGS (with IBG) Course. Going forward, this invaluable training will be the standard for our all our Event & Expedition Managers. Thank you to Remote Area Risk International for the delivery and Plas y Brenin for the fantastic location in which to learn. 🤙🏻

Last weekend saw the season kick off with our first Silver DofE Groups in the New Forest National Park. Varied weather conditions and lots of mud! Nevertheless an enjoyable weekend!

Our year has ended on a high. The last two months we have worked tirelessly to set up a company and obtain the correct licenses so that we can successfully deliver safe, efficient and quality outdoor educational experiences to Schools and Groups. In the last few days we received our AALA License after a thorough process.

We wish all our friends and future clients a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
