Half term family hols last week spent in Turkey at the latest addition to the Barut chain of hotels. This five-star hotel opened in May, it caters for families and couples with separate areas for each.
They have fantastic family rooms sleeping up to five people with two bathrooms (great when there’s 4 females) the rooms are seperated by a hallway which you can keep open or closed.
This hotel has loads of facilities and activities including a huge gym and spa area. I even found myself doing early morning yoga, all the classes are included in the all-inclusive plan.
If that sounds too strenuous you can just chill by one of the eight outdoor pools. Big and little kids will love the waterpark which ranges from a drop slide to a splash park. The hotel has 9 restaurants seven of these are A’la carte and included in all inclusive (must prebook)
Evening entertainment was very good for all ages, and they even had a little funfair with dodgems and a mini roller coaster. Usually, I would go out and explore the area but this time we were happy to just enjoy everything the hotel had to offer.

Landing back at a rainy Gatwick yesterday was a rude awakening after such a special week with LUX hotels, swapping my usual Mon- Fri to experience theirs.
We headed straight to our first hotel, Salt of Palmar. This adult only boutique hotel on the East Coast.They gave us a warm welcome to Mauritius as we sampled their signature rejuvenating salt foot scrub in the spa which was very much needed after a 12-hour flight. Followed by a stop at the
cool rooftop bar for some rum tasting.
A quick boat transfer took us to LUX Belle Mare. Recently renovated it has a modern colonial feel and an impressive infinity pool. The rooms have a very calming luxurious feel to them with huge beds, and even your own yoga mat.
In the morning we were treated to a private yoga session in the lush gardens where our excellent Yogi took one look at our group and realised he had his work cut out
He was very firm and gave us all a lesson on how to live holistically.On our second day we headed to the south-east of the Island where we visited Tamassa and LUX le Morne.
Tamassa is a great value 4-star family hotel with a huge beach. It has plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied especially children.
LUX Le Morne has the most striking location, on a beautiful beach with the iconic le Morne mountain as its backdrop The hotel is so peaceful all the guests seem to slow down once they arrive. Wander down the beach and you will find Vik’s Shack, a casual fisherman’s shack. He spends his days diving for sea urchins which he cooks for fresh for you whilst you sit back and sample the rum.
We travelled north-east to LUX Grand Gaube. This stunning hotel has a great mix of everything, and I immediately envisaged having my own family holiday there. We were treated to the Hug Me Honey experience, learning about beekeeping at the hives, sipping honey-infused cocktails and a honey pairing lunch in a garden setting.
Our final two nights were spent on the north-west coast at LUX Grand Baie. Designed by Kelly Hoppen, the rooms are ultra-modern with neutral calming tones. The emphasis is on wellness with an amazing gym that includes a spin studio and even a rooftop gym where the PTs will put you through your paces.The wellness continues into the three-floor LUXME spa where I experienced my first sound bath, a wonderful meditative experience giving you a sense of calm. The restaurants are a foodies paradise, LUX icons Beach Rouge, Maison LUX (those cakes) Bisou the funky rooftop dining experience is an Instagramable dream. The food throughout was exceptional and plentiful, pack loose clothing!

My enthusiasm for all things travel has given me a very happy and successful 27-year career, working for leading travel companies and arranging bespoke itineraries that span the globe.
My curiosity for travel has been there from a young age and I can remember as a child looking at the airport departure boards and thinking where can we go next? The excitement of visiting a new destination has never diminished.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel to over 50 countries across six continents. From horseback riding in Argentina, climbing Mount Kinabalu in Borneo, to hot air ballooning across the Serengeti. If you have that trip of a lifetime planned it’s likely that I’ve visited it!
