Apologies for the delayed posts, internet is getting harder to come by the further north we are going.
Reykjavik city, Iceland proved to be a very interesting and vibrant place with great local creativity and hospitality.
During our stay we got into our routine cleaning and maintenance to get Nina ready to leave again and then ventured ashore.
the crew got up to a range of adventures from city tours and spa visits to big hikes around geothermal springs and an accidental tour around a chocolate factory, with heaps of complementary chocolate.
since leaving Reykjavik we have travelled two days north to Westfjords which puts us in more remote waters and ever closer to the greenland crossing.

Arrived today just after lunchtime in Reykjavik, Iceland, this is the first major milestone of our journey.
The journey took four days of mixed weather from beautiful sunsets and clear skies to plenty of rain and thick fog.
During the journey we were followed by a large pod of playful pilot whales and got to see a 43 year old volcanic island of the south coast of Iceland.
We now have some time to adventure around the city of Reykjavik and south west Iceland four the next three days.

Tvoroyri, Suduroy Island, Faroh’s
Another short stay in such a beautiful and interesting place, we could stay here for the next two months and not get enough of the adventure, local hospitality and culture that this pace has to offer!

The crew have been making the most of the hiking and the opportunity to take in some of the outstanding views of towering sea cliffs, mountain lakes and green hills of these remote islands.

We will be leaving early tomorrow morning to start our three to four day sail to Raykavic, South Iceland, as usual we are bound by the weather and must sail when it allows us the opportunity.

We left Orkney islands on Tuesday midday to start our journey to The Faroe islands, we left in brilliant sunshine after a light lunch and light wind to make our way through three low pressure systems, finally the wind arrived and we set the sails.

With the wind increasing to gale force gusts and the visibility decreasing we were forced to manoeuvre around an oil rig development zone littered with rigs, vessels and exclusion zones.
The final leg was under motor after the wind dropped ahead of us with a worsening forecast for our arrival point.

We made good time and arrived ahead of the bad weather to anchor at the Suduroy fyrod for a hearty meal and good night sleep.

Currently in the Orkney Islands at Stromness, the crew has had a well deserved full night sleep, showers, fish & chips and Nina has had some good maintenance and cleaning.
the yacht and crew are ready to leave for the Faroe Islands tomorrow morning (weather permitting) to make the most out of our weather window.
currently we dont have a long enough weather window to sail straight to Iceland but we are looking at exploiting a gap between two weather systems in order to get to Iceland on schedule.
