The Roundhouse Sleeping up to 8 people in 3 double rooms and 1 twin room. Extensive gardens, part of which was the old railway line.

A lovely countryside retreat, 3.5 miles from Port Isaac, 8 miles from the surfing beach at Polzeath, Rock and the ferry to Padstow.

The garden is always at its best just as we leave! No small effort! I hope our visitors enjoy it.

Thank you to everyone that shared, it may be coincidence but we have a 2 week booking for June! Hurrah!

House is packed up and almost ready. We move into the van today as the house officially belongs to the agent from Friday. We will stay on the drive for few weeks as we have no bookings until bank holiday weekend at the end of May, after that we will travel around a bit and pray for more bookings. I some ways i will be sad to see the van go at the end of this year but in others i will love being back in my lovely kitchen full time and sleeping in my own bed. Bliss.

This is us, see how close we are to the best places while being set back from the crowds and hubbub. Surrounded by farmland with the birds singing, not the seagulls squawking. Far reaching views, privacy and a large garden to relax in. Dip in and out of the summer scene as you choose knowing there is tranquility to retire to at the end of the day. I mile from The White Hart at St Teath, 2 miles to the Cornish Arms at Pendoggett and just under 4 miles to St Kew Inn - plus the celebrity chefs at Port Isaac, Rock and Padstow there is no shortage of glorious food to be had close by. Farm shops at St Endellion, Near Delabole, St Kew Highway and Boscastle for delicious lunches and fresh supplies. Booking open, give us a try.

Happy New Year to all.

And so the hard work begins to prepare the house for us to leave again in April. The garden has fought back and won so far! Lots of painting to do. Hey ho!

12/10/2023

We have our first booking for next year. I am not sure I am ready for this! Thought I would have longer to enjoy being home before I had to think about leaving again. Fait accompli it would seem.

Home at last. I have found being away much harder this year.

The garden is distinctly shaggy, probably due to the moist summer, we need some good weather so we can get going on putting it all to rights.
The house was beautifully clean as usual, thank you Helen. There is minimal damage and breakages this year so we have got off lightly compared to last year.

It has been hard work moving everything back in from van, garage, attic and shed, I wonder why we do sometimes, do we need all this ‘stuff’ then the house suddenly comes alive again and I realise it is all precious memories and reflections of happy times. We don’t actually need it all but it is lovely to have it around us.

Sad that the bookings have been so poor this year, lets hope we can improve that next year or we may have to have a rethink.

Another year of travelling, France, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and lots of Uk. We have been a bit busy 😂. I am so looking forward to home and being back in my kitchen. Thankfully we have not had the same letting issues as last year and I am grateful to the very special team that keep the house for us. Here’s hoping the bookings will improve next year, that has been the only down side.

A lovely Easter weekend with family. Baking, games and doing a ‘Great Easter Egg Hunt’ around the garden. ‘Best’ hide by the Easter bunny - top of the granite post, daddy had to provide a lift to retrieve it. What fun! The weather stayed good for us, happy days!

Now to start packing up the house ready for this summer’s letting. We leave at the end of the month. Always a bittersweet moment. I enjoy travelling during the summer but it is hard to leave home. I can only hope that our guests will love the house as much as we do and treat it with respect. Happy holidays to all xx

A step back from the madding crowd but close enough to everything for the perfect Cornish holiday. 5 mins from Port Isaac and Port Gaverne. 15 mins from the surfing beaches of Polzeath, the restaurants in Rock and the ferry to Padstow with all it’s attractions.
A peaceful place to return to at the end of a hectic day to unwind in the, well appointed, house and tranquil spacious gardens, including a reclaimed part of the old North Cornwall Railway Line giving a uniqueness to this garden.

So many happy customers last year, looking forward to this year’s visitors and hoping they love it as much as we do.

Oh No! New fence time! Go away Storm Eunice! Having a paperwork and painting day as gardening is definitely out. Hope the wind drops soon so we can go out and inspect the damage.

A new year and a whole new mess in the garden! Where to start! We have been bramble clearing for a week and progress is difficult to quantify! Onward and upward. May is dashing towards us.

So happy with the cleaning of the house last year and delighted that they have agreed to continue this year.

We are also staying on Airbnb and the house is listed for 2022.

31/07/2021

It is wrong of me just to complain on here! It must be said that many of our guests show great care and consideration, they leave the house much as they find it which is as it should be.
I also commend my wonderful cleaners who work tirelessly to make the house beautiful again after every visitor, good or not quite so good.

30/07/2021

It’s happened again! I don’t know whether to cry or swear a lot! My beautiful house has been has been left in a terrible state again today. What possesses people to think they can treat other peoples property with such complete disrespect. 😢🤬

29/06/2021

Very disappointed at the state in which our last weeks 18th - 25th June guests left the house. Copious quantities of rubbish in every room, linen left on all the beds, towels all over the floor, unwashed dishes on all surfaces of the kitchen, left over food stuffs strewn about. What a disgrace! I had, naively, thought that we could trust people to follow the rules during, what we hope, is the tail end of this pandemic. Seems I was very wrong, I really hope that future guests can be more respectful of the safety of the cleaners and future guests. The lovely team of cleaners had to spend hours bringing the house back to its usual high standard.
