Good morning folks, last week we had the pleasure of visiting a very special Yorkshire attraction, and event which was held there, and would like to share this with you, have a wonderful week everybody, and please do visit the Piece Hall, Halifax as it really is something special.
New Order - The Piece Hall, Halifax, 08/09/2021
If you have not had the pleasure of visiting The Piece Hall, Halifax then please add this to your list of “To Do’s”, not only is it Yorkshire’s most important Secular building, but also the only remaining Georgian cloth hall in the world.
This magnificent building is reminiscent of a cultural Italian city or town with it’s impressive courtyard and vast array of wonderful independent boutique shops, cafe’s, galleries, bars, & eateries.
The Piece Hall is run by a charitable organisation and as a major town venue is host to numerous events including music concerts which brings much needed revenue to this small Yorkshire town.
After almost two years of various worldwide restrictions, lockdowns, and the worst pandemic in modern day history, The Piece Hall brought one of the finest bands in the world to town, New Order, who played to a sold out crowd, and brought some much needed feel good factor with them to Calderdale.
On entering the stage lead singer Bernard Sumner himself looked suitably impressed that his band were playing within the walls of this iconic building, commenting “It’s been a strange couple of years, but let’s do a bit of catching up tonight”, and they certainly did more than just catch up!
What followed can only be described as a masterclass in music, a set list including some of the bands finest work which included crowd favourites such as True Faith, Bizarre Love Triangle, and their biggest hit “Blue Monday”, a debut performance of Be a Rebel, which was written during lockdown, along with many other anthems.
This in itself would of been enough for the audience to go home happy, but this is New Order and the show would not be complete without spectacular videography, lasers lighting up the night sky, and ending their brilliant two hour set with exactly what this crowd wanted to hear, “Love will tear us apart again”
The organisation of this event and attention to detail was second to none, very tight Covid restrictions were in place, the staff were exceptional, and to quote the lyrics of a certain New Order song “Let’s go out and have some fun” that is exactly what everybody did on this warm Wednesday evening in Halifax.
Well done to the whole team at The Piece Hall!
