Calling all cake enthusiasts and cycling fans!
As part of British Cycling’s National Championships on Sunday 23rd June, Food First Saltburn are holding a cake baking competition!

The organisers of Saltburn Farmers' Market are looking for the tastiest Best Cycle Themed Bake.

And it doesn't have to be a cake! It could be a cup cake, a biscuit, a tray bake, or even a cookie - as long as it’s your own work.

Prizes:
1st Place: A free session at a cookery school in Saltburn or Guisborough.
2nd Place: Shopping vouchers for Saltburn farmers market
3rd Place: 4 free cookies to decorate

How to Enter:

Bake Your bake and bring it along on Sunday 23 June at 11am to the stall at the Anchor Garden at the top of Saltburn Bank.

🚴One Week To Go!! 🚴‍♀️

The National Road Championships are nearly ready to start in Redcar and Cleveland, with just a week to go until cyclists from all across the UK take to the streets of Saltburn for the final races of the competition. These exhilarating final races feature long distances, steep gradients and tight hairpin bends that will surely put them to the test!

❗ If you're looking to get in on the fun there are plenty of ways to get here. A park and ride system will be available for those driving to the area, though regular spectator parking is also available. You can also reach the area via public transport.

Some fabulous work going on at Boosbeck Village Hall to get the village decorated for British Cycling’s National Road Championships on Sunday 23rd June.

Volunteers have been working hard to make things to decorate the roadside thanks to a Tees Million grant.

And there is still time to get involved. Draw a colourful poster on A4 paper then take this to Treasurekins who will turn your unique design into a flag. This will then be available on race day to wave and cheer on the riders. We can’t wait to see the results 🙌

Part of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council's Between the Tides Festival for children and their grown-ups, this is a mesmerising experience that all the family can enjoy 🌊☀

If you were lucky enough to get tickets for last year's sold out Luminarium, you can look forward to a different installation this year. Meet Dodecalis - just as awe-inspiring but with different paths and mazes to explore as you enter another luminescent world of wonder.

Get lost in a magical labyrinth of saturated light tunnels. Marvel as the vivid reflections of liquid colour spill across the curved walls. And let the Luminarium work it's magic as it soothes, calms and enchants.

📅 Thursday 22 August - Sunday 25 August 10-7pm. (Please note the first hour of each day is a relaxed session)

10 days to go until the British Cycling National Road Championships sweeps into Redcar & Cleveland and we've got so much happening along the route thanks to community grants awarded by Tees Million

🎨Brotton will showcase some fantastic displays of art works around the town created by some of our amazing communities including Saltburn Brownies, Cleveland Pride, Whippet Up CIC and Skelton Cubs.

🎨Join Helen Jane Gaunt and Derek Mosey in partnership with Badger Hill Academy to help create a large scale community mosaic which will remain on permanent display outside Badger Hill Academy celebrating the cycling events that have come through the town.

🎨Join BloomInArt in lots of wonderful creative activity on Brotton High Street near Arctic Foxx Ices (Treat yourself to an ice cream - rude not to!)

🎨Come and see the amazing art works created by Brotton Brownies and Guides.

Join the fabulous Whippet Up CIC and have a great time creating your very own bike themed puppet show. Or get your photo taken in their seaside inspired photo booth.

Pack a picnic and enjoy the bike race on the big screen on the seafront car park! Grab a deck chair and an ice cream and watch the race as it speeds through the Redcar and Cleveland course.

Join the Cleveland Wheelers who will be running bike skills workshops for children and young people also in the seafront car park. There will be a limited bikes to loan, but feel free to bring your own.

Watch a cycling film premiere. Chasing the Sun is hosted by Saltburn Inspired at Saltburn Community Theatre. ⛱️ Join us in Redcar this Thursday 6th June as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a fantastic celebration for all to enjoy!

Here's what you can expect to see:
A parade led by the Standard Bearers and Veterans will set off at 10.30am from Redcar Beach - spectators are welcome to join in if they wish!

The British Legion and veterans will be reconstructing the D-Day landing at a smaller scale on Redcar beach, with fishing boats and military vehicles creating a war scene with flares and pyrotechnics.

There will be plenty of stalls, memorabilia, military vehicles, and goods for sale.

🚴‍♀️ Happy to cycling enthusiasts everywhere! Getting out and about on your bike through Redcar and Cleveland's scenic cycling routes this week is the perfect way to celebrate - make sure you bring your bike if you're heading to the area! 🚴

And that's not the only exciting news - there's now just 20 days to go until the British National Road Championships arrive in Redcar and Cleveland! Here are the exhilarating routes for the upcoming races, featuring steep gradients and tight hairpin bends, these challenging routes will surely put the competing cyclists to the test on the final hurdle of the championships!

What a fantastic first day of our inaugural Redcar Kite Festival. Absolutely blown away by the fantastic atmosphere, the happy smiles, the sheer number of people and of course the kites 🪁

And we're off! Kites are flying high and looking magnificent. We are EXTREMELY busy. Majuba Car Park is already full so if you're heading in by car please park in the town centre and walk down the Esplanade. Parking is free in the Leisure Centre, Kirkleatham St and Fisherman Square or there is plenty of on street parking. Or of course you can hop on the train or bus.

Huge thanks to Sandinyoureye for the incredible sculptures; to Saltburn Inspired for a rammed to the rafters singalong in the Community Hall; to all the performers Apollo Arts Pif-Paf Theatre and Artemis Productions UK Eye of Newt and to all our stewards.
