Irish Whiskey is in high demand throughout the world, but did you know:
In the 1980s there were only two distilleries on the islands of Ireland!
These distilleries were Bushmills Irish Whiskey (The Old Bushmills Distillery) in Northern Ireland. Granted a license to distil in 1608, Bushmills is the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world.
The only other distillery active at this time was Midleton Distillery (Jameson Irish Whiskey) in County Cork.
Now there are over 40 operating distilleries.
