TIME TO RELAX 😎

After three nights of little sleep and non stop dancing at Ultra Europe it was time to recover.

We took the bus from Split down to coast to Makarska-my home in 2019 when I was lucky enough to work here.
And it was so good to be back.
Good to go back to the lovely beach I used to go to, wander sound the streets of the old town and revisit some of the bars and restaurants, plus try out some of the lovely new ones.

I tend to avoid the main beach which can be rammed at high season and walk a bit further to a smaller beach which is quieter but still has a good vibe. The clearest, bluest sea, an excellent beach bar which offers the best fruit platter I’ve ever seen and the sunsets speak for themselves.

The beaches are all pebbled so, even though they aren’t exactly stylish, don’t forget your beach shoes 😁

We were in Makarska for 8 nights and have lots to show you so watch this space for our next adventure.

Hello from Croatia 🇭🇷

If you’re travelling this summer and are a little apprehensive given what we keep seeing in the news about our UK airports, I just wanted to share my experience.
I flew from Manchester airport at 6am.
We got to the airport around 3 hours before just to be on the safe side and it was good that we did.
We queued approximately an hour to check our bags in and the same again to go through security.
The airport staff were lovely and managed the queues the best they could. Although it was a lot of queuing it was organised well.

Once through security we had just enough time for the loo and to grab some food to take with us before boarding and taking off pretty much on time.

So if you are travelling allow plenty of time and pack your hand luggage with care to make the security process easier.

💌Get in touch with any questions and stay posted for my Croatia updates 👀

HUNGRY FOR HUNGARY?

My lovely customer recently came back from from beautiful Budapest and an amazing stay at the Mystery Hotel booked through me.
There were a few hotel options to choose from but we both really liked the look of the Mystery Hotel.

The former Freemasons buildings dates back to 1896 and the rooms are decorated to reflect legends and secrets.
There’s an amazing Sky Garden Rooftop Terrace with views over Budapest and a luxurious Secret Garden spa.
In a great location in the city, my customer loved her stay at this quirky boutique hotel.

Check out this amazing saving.

4 nights, 2 adults, bed & breakfast in a Superior Double room
My price £449

⭐️⭐️Saving a huge £251 which gives you plenty of spending money while you’re there

I’M BACK!

I’m home after my trip to Jordan and it was AMAZING!

I’ve wanted to visit Jordan ever since seeing Petra on Indiana Jones. My excitement and expectations were high. I was a bit anxious about travelling on a group tour but it turned out to be the best experience and I would jump at the chance of doing it again.

The tour was with G Adventures and was organised superbly. It was a nice small group so there was no hanging around for people or anyone delaying the group. It was a nice mix of ages and solo travellers, friends and couples. From day one it was like we had known each other for ages. That’s the beauty of this type of travel I guess, everyone is like minded, laid back and has a passion for travel and your swapping travel tips and destination ideas.
Even a night in desert was a special experience with these people. It’s amazing how a competitive game of Uno can really bond a group!

Our guide Zuhair was fantastic, it was like travelling with a friend who happened to be local and know exactly what time was best to go where, where the best place for food was and how to navigate local customs and culture. Our driver Ahmed was also brilliant, driving us the length of the country and back.

The good thing about G Adventures is that they work with local projects in the local communities to give something back which is super important now more than ever when travelling.

Saying goodbye was quite emotional. I’m so glad I took the plunge to do this trip. I felt totally comfortable as a solo traveler and would recommend it to anyone. Jordan as a country did not disappoint. The people are friendly, the food is good and the things you can see are out of this world.

If you’re thinking of it, just do it, you won’t regret it!

THERE’S NO WI-FI IN THE DESERT!

The last couple of days of my Jordan tour have been hectic but AMAZING!

After our stay in Petra we moved on the desert of Wadi Rum where we were spending the night. I was apprehensive about sleeping in the desert but it was such a good experience and a highlight of my trip.

We set off on jeeps to cruise around the desert where major films such as Star Wars, Martian and Dune have been filmed. The scenery is absolutely stunning and we often passed random camels going for a stroll 🐪
We stopped for the best cup of sage, cardamom and cinnamon tea with a local Bedouin before watching the sun set.

Then it was freezing! So the fire waiting for us back at camp was most welcoming as was our delicious dinner that had been cooking underground for over 4 hours. The most tender chicken and lamb cooked to perfection with potatoes and carrots.

Despite being the coldest person ever, my bed for the night was so toasty I didn’t want to get out.
Having no Wi-Fi and limited electricity were also a nice change. It was great just chatting and getting to know one another over a competitive game of Uno.
Sometimes the simple things really are the best!

AMAZING!

There’s no words to describe the wonder that is Petra, you have to see it to appreciate how phenomenal it is. The carvings were done by hand and the scale of the site is so vast. It really is a wonder of the world

It is definitely worth the early wake up call to get there at 6am and experience it without masses of people.

An absolutely awesome experience that you should definitely put on your bucket list.

After walking over 20,000 steps I’m glad to get my flip flops back on though.

THOUGHT ABOUT GUIDED TOURS?

In all honesty, I wasn’t sure if they were for me, I don’t like waiting for lots of people or being herded around, but here I am on day 1 of my Highlights of Jordan tour with G Adventures
and already I’m hooked.

It’s a small group of 13 people plus our guide who is amazing. Everyone is really nice and likeminded in the fact that we all love to travel. It’s all very relaxed and as it’s a small group, there’s no hanging around.

We will be making our way through Jordan but today we started with a hearty breakfast in our hotel in Amman before heading out to visit Jerash, a Roman town. This dates back to the 2nd century and turns out Hadrian didn’t just build a wall, he built this amazing arch too!
A quick pit stop for lunch where we picked up a pastry picnic (immense) before heading on to the Dead Sea where we slathered ourselves in mud and floated around in the tranquil water. I was amazed at just how much you do actually float, it was a fantastic experience.

Can’t wait for day 2 tomorrow! 🩴🩴

P.s. from tomorrow (1st March) Jordan don’t require you to do a pcr test to enter (if you’re fully vaccinated)

WHEN THE MOON HITS YOUR EYE LIKE A BIG PIZZA PIE-THAT’S AMORE ❤️

Forget Christmas, birthday’s, that special anniversary. The best day of the year is today, National Pizza Day! 🍕🍕

For the best pizza, you have to visit Naples. A thin base with a soft doughy edge, sweet tomato sauce and creamy mozzarella and not a pineapple chunk in sight. It’s the ultimate in fast food and perfectly acceptable to eat with your hands.

My next new adventure is Jordan which I’m mega excited about!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳

I hope you all had a lovely time over the festive period.

I’m back from 2 months working in Lapland where every day is Christmas.

It’s a magical place and not only was I lucky enough to find Father Christmas i also got to meet his Reindeers, try husky riding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, toasted marshmallows under the stars and gaze at the wonder of the Northern Lights.

The -30 temperatures were challenging at times for someone who loves to be in flip flops but the stunning scenery more than made up for it.

If you’re interested in visiting Lapland or you’re looking for prices or inspiration for your 2022 break, drop me a message and I’ll be happy to help.

THIS MEANS NOTHING TO ME
AHHHH VIENNA!

Yep, today we are in the Austrian capital, famous for music, cake, breaded veal, Freud and the waltz
Sadly, the Viennese whirls we know and love are made by Mr Kipling and not an Austrian delicacy.

Architecture here in Vienna is immense. You’re surrounded by palaces and impressive buildings at every turn so it’s nice just wandering around.

My top things to do in Vienna are;

🇦🇹Visit the Schonbraunn Palace and gardens.
☕️Have brunch at the Cafe Central. Cafe culture is very popular in Vienna and they have around 1000 coffee shops.
🤪Visit the Freud museum.
🎡Take a ride on the Wiener Riesenrad, Vienna’s iconic Ferris wheel
🍰Stop at the hotel Sacher for a slice of Sacher Torte, Vienna’s world famous chocolate cake.
⛪️Take a wander around Stephensplatz and take a look at St Stephen’s cathedral.
🍽Stop for dinner at Figlmuller, home of the Wiener Schnizel. The breaded veal escalope is bigger than a dinner plate and the only meal that’s ever defeated me!

As you will see from the last picture, I had a wonderful birthday in Vienna when I worked in Austria. Austrians are fun people who love to have a good time and Vienna has a great nightlife 🥳

BONSOIR A TOUS 🇫🇷

Today we are in France. In the gorgeous town of Carcassonne. Here you get two for one, the new town and stunning walled Medieval Citadel.

You can spend a leisurely day strolling round the cobbled streets of the citadel, tour the Chateau and ramparts and if you have kids try the slightly gory museum of the Inquisition.

It’s also really easy to get the train to nearby Toulouse and Narbonne. You can spend a leisurely day in both of these places.

Now for the food. In this part of southern France I love the Cassoulet. A casserole with white beans, sausage and duck confit. As adventurous as I am with trying new foods, snails however, are a no from me 🐌

And as you’re in France it really would be rude not to sample the wine. Take a tour or just make up your own 🍷

To be honest I could happily while away the afternoon eating freshly baked baguettes with local cheese and drinking local wine 🤪

Carcassonne is small but definitely worth a visit. Perfect if you want a leisurely paced break.

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR…..FOR A CITY BREAK

Wrap up and get your comfortable shoes on. I love this time of year for a city break. 3 or 4 nights exploring, sightseeing and experiencing new things.

They are great if you’re short on time, you want something to keep you going until your ‘big’ holiday, or if you want to ease yourself back into travelling again.

First stop is Kiev in the Ukraine. Probably not the first city that springs to your mind but it definitely should be. I went here last November and would definitely go back.

Kiev has stunning, eclectic architecture, interesting history and plenty of palaces and museums.
And of course you can visit Chernobyl which is both devastating and fascinating. The exclusion zone is only a 2 hour drive from Kiev and there are guided tours you can join.
Don’t worry, your radiation levels will be checked as you leave.

Ukrainian food is fabulous. Lots of lovely warming and hearty dishes perfect after a day exploring. And of course you have to have the original Chicken Kiev.

Unlike some of the Western European capitals, Kiev is cheap! Another great reason to visit.

Stay at the 4⭐️ CITYHOTEL (pictured)
Bed and breakfast, 4 nights, 2 adults, free cancellation, November dates.

My first morning working in Fuerteventura. Not a bad view for a work day.

My favourite thing about Fuerteventura was the fabulous boat trips I got to go on and the first time I saw dolphins and whales 🐳 🐬 swimming by the boat.

I also loved being in the sun rather than the rain!
