20 minutes walk around the estuary from the cottage and you get to enjoy a cold drink with beautiful views
Southdown Marina, has a cafe serving fantastic breakfasts, lunch and variety of drinks. Well worth a visit

Today we visited Calstock using the Tamar Valley Line.
We took the Torpoint ferry ⛴️ which is 15 minutes from the cottage and parked at Devonport train station which is free. A return fare to Calstock is £4.10pp and takes 30 minutes. It’s a beautiful journey following the tamar estuary which takes you right into the village of Calstock.
The village itself is beautiful with a lovely walk alongside the river, wonderful coffee shops and an ice cream parlours. You’ll find walks in the folder at the cottage)
We had lunch at The Tamar Inn, which I can highly recommend and jumped on the train back.
The service runs every two hours and very popular during the summer months. You could combine with a visit to Cothele National Trust House 🏠 the walk from the station is 1.25miles
Definitely worth making the effort. 😃

A beautiful evening walk across Mount Edgcumbe Country Park. Parking at Maker Church which is a 5 minute drive from the cottage. Stunning coastal views and you might even spot the deer grazing.

5 minutes drive from the cottage you’ll find Whitsand Bay. Dog friendly beach too 🐶

Mount Edgecumbe Country Park - 3 miles from the Cottage FREE to visit
Lots of stunning walks to enjoy either along the coast line with view across to Plymouth and the sound or up in the woods and across open land with view out to sea. They have lovely stables tea rooms on site near to the main house which serve a variety of lunches and light snacks including cakes and of course a Cornish cream tea.

The Canteen at Maker Heights- Another great cafe which is only a 1.5 mile walk from the cottage ( steep climb to the top but the views are definitely worth it)or a 5 minute drive. They have converted old Anderson shelters into a cafe serving breakfasts,lunches, cream teas and cakes. It’s one of our favourites especially if the weather is good because the views are spectacular.
You can also park at maker heights and walk down into Kingsand and Cawsands via forts and hidden beaches
