Day 3’s acclimatisation day tested everyone’s response to altitude as we headed from Shira Cave Camp at 3750m up to Lava Tower for lunch at 4600m before heading back down to Baranco Camp at 3900m to sleep 🏔️
We were greeted to some stunning views of the mountain peak in the morning and dramatic landscapes in the afternoon.

After redecorating the school and sorting out all the amazing donations, their time at the project ended with a day packed full of celebration as our Top Class students graduated to Primary 1.
A proud moment followed as we said farewell to our first ever P7 leavers, who have been with us since we opened the project in 2017. It was a day full of singing, dancing, and heartfelt speeches ✨

Yesterday our November 24 Tribe fully immersed themselves in the wonderful local community of Bogodi for an incredible experience that included coffee-making, banana gin crafting, tea picking, and basket weaving. Footwear is arguably the most important item on your trekking kit list. You will need warm, comfortable, durable and water-resistant hiking boots to successfully and safely climb Kilimanjaro 🏔️
🥾 Choose quality hiking boots (not shoes) from well established brands that can walk over roots and rocks, through streams and mud, over scree, sometimes across ice and snow, and more!
🥾 If possible go to a store and have them properly fitted, good outdoor stores have textured ramps to test footwear up and down hill.
🥾 Get the right size! Look for minimal heel movement going up hill and make sure your toes don’t touch the front of the boots when going down hill.
🥾 Prioritise stiffer soles and good ankle support.
🥾 Get them now and break them in early to avoid blisters!
🥾 Buy extra laces and several pairs of of good, non-cotton, trekking socks
