The world of Baby Sensory is a magical world, full of glowing balls, light shows, puppets, bubbles, rainbows, petals, massage, signing and songs. And together we’ll dance in the snow or dive under the waves, trek through a rainfore

st and sing the shanties of sea pirates. We have a vast wealth of equipment and songs - many unique to us - and you’ll never experience the same lesson twice. What also makes our programme so groundbreaking is that every element has been meticulously designed with your baby’s development in mind. Created by Dr Lin Day, it’s the result of a lifetime’s work and study and testament to her overriding passion to inspire and educate children and support their parents. We love sharing our knowledge with you, regularly explaining what we’re doing and why. For the first year of your baby’s life is one of the most important, when, soon after birth, the brain starts creating two million new connections every second! And understanding more about your child’s development will really enhance what’s already a very special time. You can join us at any point, and we’d encourage you to begin as soon as you feel able. Because routine is important, every session is structured to follow the natural play-rest-play cycle of babies. What’s great about this is that each week you’ll have the opportunity to chat with others in a relaxed manner. Right now you might not be able to imagine your baby crawling, let alone walking!

But what can you do now to help your baby build their muscles for sitting, crawling and walking in the future?

The first step is tummy time!

You can start tummy time from very early on but it's best just to start by trying it once or twice a day for only 1-2 minutes at a time and gradually build up from there.

Including tummy time as part of your baby's play activities is a great way to help strengthen their back, arms and neck muscles and to encourage them to roll over.

Sometimes it's ok not to be ok ❤️

Everyone has a different experience of becoming a parent and raising their children.

No two journey's to becoming a parent are the same.

What we may struggle with, another parent may not and vice versa.

Every baby is different and there is no "one best way" to care for them.

We all have good days and we all have bad days. And so do our babies.

So remember if you're having a day where you feel a little low, it's ok not to be ok 100% of the time.

The important thing is to recognise when you are feeling like this and remind yourself that you're doing a great job.

There's also no shame in reaching out for help from friends or family members, your midwife, Health Visitor or GP if you are struggling ❤️

No classes for one week at Ashbourne, Belper and Ripley. Matlock you have a two week break. It’s Half Term for Derbyshire schools, so I’m taking some time to enjoy Autumn and Halloween celebrations with my own not-so-little pumpkins 🎃 🍁

Reminder… 🎨 👣 🍑

Jo from The Painting Parlour will be joining us in our Ashbourne, Belper and Ripley classes this week to create adorable ‘Bumkins’ 🍑✨

She will paint baby’s bottom onto a canvas in class with her baby friendly paint and take it away to make it into a cute irresistible ‘Bumkin’ 🍑 for you to keep forever. She can also paint little feet and will have her basic range available too. All items will be handed out/can be collected at the following class.

No need to book but do check out her FB or insta page to decide what you’d like. Payment can be made by cash or card.

Unfortunately Jo can’t squeeze Matlock in this time, but her studio is near you, so you could always visit her there.

It’s the last week of our Autumn Term and we’re celebrating with a seasonal pumpkin party!

We’ll explore the Autumn Harvest, have a baby-friendly bonfire party, bouncing pumpkins and much, much more!

Booking for our Winter Term opens TODAY for priority booking for anyone already attending classes!

I’ve had LOTS of enquiries about our next term and I honestly can't wait to welcome lots of new (and returning!) families.

This Winter Term is packed with lots of exciting ‘WOW’ moments! This term’s themes include the unmissable ‘Jungle Jitters’ and seasonal ‘Christmas Fun’, introducing your little one to the magic of the festive season!

It’s a 7 week term starting w/c 4th November and ending w/c 16th December. Available for babies from birth to 13 months. The cost will remain at £7.50 per class; £52.50 for the full term, payable upon booking online.

We like to tantalise all of your senses at Baby Sensory, and this week we have been stimulating your baby’s sense of smell! 👃✨

Did you know that smells reach areas of the brain involved in emotion, memory and mood? Scents can evoke vivid memories and emotions, even from infancy. From the soothing scent of lavender to the familiar smell of Mummy or Daddy, these early sensory experiences help build lasting connections in your baby’s brain. The scent of a toy, object, place or person may bring back emotive memories in later life.

Did you know we have dedicated age group classes at Baby Sensory? 💛 Birth - 6month classes 💚 6month - 13month classes 💛 Birth – 13month (mixed age range) This way we can tailor the information provided and offer age-appropriate activities suited to the age and developmental ability of your baby. We use your baby’s age at the beginning of the term as a guide. 💛Birth – 6 month class: The younger age range is perfect for your little non-mover that are 6 months and younger at the beginning of term. Please don’t worry if your baby will be over 6 months of age when the term ends, as babies are often 8-9 months before they move on to one of the older babies’ classes. 💚6 – 13month class: The older range class is perfect for your little one who is on the go; whether that be shuffling, crawling, cruising or toddling. Once they are confidently moving this is the session for you. As long as your little one is 13months or younger at the beginning of the course, you’re welcome to join us for the whole term even though they will be older than 13months at the end of the term. 💛Birth – 13month: This mixed age range session allows friends and family with babies of different age ranges to attend together. It was final countdown yesterday and I am beyond proud to let you know that with all the donations, raffle ticket sales and Gift Aid totalled up, Baby Sensory Derbyshire has raised… a staggering and phenomenal… 💫 £6,886 💫 I literally cannot believe it 😭 Thank you to each and every one of you who donated, fundraised, supported and dressed up for our Aloha 2024 Sensathon.
