🤍 ‘Swim with the Seasons’ @thepierhousehotel
What a weekend of re-aligning with nature, good craic, great people and award-winning hospitality. I love running these weekends in collab with my favourite place 🍽️ to mark traditional ancient turning points of the year.
The next one is for Là Buidhe Bealtainn ☀️ to mark the onset of summer on the 27/28 April. There are two places available❗️so contact the reservations team to book. Here’s what you can expect:
☀️ Expert swim guidance and holistic approaches, suitable for any ability.
☀️ Mindfully explore above and below the waves of Argyll with full safety cover.
☀️ Small group to maximise the experience and enjoyment.
☀️ An authentic sense of place and local cultural understanding.
☀️ Specially designed post-swim feast from the incredible 2 AA rosette restaurant.
☀️ Expert whisky tasting, bespoke selected with the coast and sea in mind. An immersion for the senses.
☀️ The sun, obvs 😉 But what a dramatic location to swim regardless.
📍 There’s so many reasons why I decided to put this place on the @wildaboutargyll wild swim trail!

Happy old new year to ye!
The modern Gregorian calendar doesn’t allow for the rhythm of nature. But our bodies will always remember the pulse of the Mother 🌍
Slàinte mhòr agus a h-uile beannachd dhuibh.
Great health and every good blessing to you.

Happy #nationaltreeweek or in Gaelic, Seachdain nan Craobh. One of the most mind blowing revelations as I am reconnecting to my language and culture has been my closer connection to trees. Each letter of the Gaelic alphabet is associated with a native tree and used to identify it. Native trees are traditionally used to teach the Gaelic alphabet. Each tree also has particular characteristics and place in Gaelic folklore which goes far deeper than what can be understood from just a modern ecological point of view. Our indigenous Gaelic place names provide clues of where these certain species have always been. I have accessed particular trees during my time of grief recently such as D for Dair - Darach (oak) and I for iogh - iubhar (yew). The ancient Gael perception that spending time with these guardians of the Earth can nourish my soul has been a great comfort. The durability of the Darach caressed my spirit and the immortal Iubhar provided perspective and a reminder of the circle of life. On one particularly difficult day I spent 4 hours just lying under a great Oak to seek its wisdom and strength and spoke to a two thousand year old Yew. One of the things I love about walking and swimming across the west coast of Scotland is that this is where the trees meet the sea. The last remnants of temperate rainforest, the guardians of the Earth, watch over me and my swimmers as we explore the coastline.A’ snàmh ri taobh na coille-uisge Ceilteach 🌳 🌊 Into the wild. Ìle 🔜 I’m on my way to Islay for the weekend to coach the locals and explore its natural wonders 🌊 Maybe a cheeky drop of uisge beatha too this evening, it will be rude not to. Mòr air bhioran! Explore Islay & Jura Wild About Argyll Wild Scotland #islay #wildswimming #wildaboutargyll
👂🌊 Sluaisreadh na mara. Meaning: the rushing sound of the sea or the sound of calm waves breaking on the shore. It can also refer to how the sea creates patterns on the sand. The sounds of these words are as true to the sounds of the forces of nature they draw meaning from. Ancient indigenous words crafted from our wild coastline. Engaging directly with Gàidhlig opens up a whole new world 🌍 Gàidhealaich.
Happy new year from the wild Argyll coast. Cracking job by my swimming buddy and neighbour John to pipe us in today. As he started the hardy swimmers gathered… even @ali_in_argyll 😀
An enjoyable swim and craic was had by all.
Lang may yer lum reek.
