If you have your dogs on holiday with you, they can go in the Black Swan too!

COLLABORATION IS KEY… AND RATHER NICE 🥰

We have teamed up with the old black swan pub for our Wednesday pizza night. As our pizza night is takeaway only we thought it would be a great idea for people to have somewhere to sit and enjoy their pizza and over the road at the pub seems a great idea. So now you can support two local businesses at the same time.

You still need to place your order at the bakery (remember ordering in advance is advised) and then when you collect your pizza you can take it over to the pub to enjoy.

Collection slots available between 5pm and 7.30pm. Call 01773 857074 to book.

Another review from our lovely guests which was too good not to share!

A beautiful home from home to be able to stay in - spacious, cosy, relaxing with to die for comfortable beds.
Everything we could ask for under one roof. Particularly liked the Nespresso for when we arrived.
Always a little win when you can check in early too - thank you for offering this.
The weather was mixed for us but it was a pleasure being inside when it was cold and grey outside. Lit the fire so felt truly comfortable with our books.
Our two dogs had so much space and the fact we could just walk with them from the doorstep is another win.
Would certainly recommend to our friends and families who we know would be as impressed as we were.

A great day out for our guests staying in September. Wirksworth is a lovely market town only 15 minutes drive from the The Old Mill - Fritchley, well worth a visit any time!

☀The Wirksworth Arts Festival is thrilled to announce its 2024 Artist in Residence. Over 150 applicants applied for this 3 month residency in a cottage in the town of Wirksworth, in the Derbyshire Dales, and Fiona MacDonald, working as ‘Feral Practice’ was successful.

🎨Fiona describes her work as "working with human and nonhuman beings to create art projects that develop ethical and imaginative connection across species boundaries". In Wirksworth, Feral Practice will explore health and community. In dialogue with local people and through multisensory exploration of the land and its beings, the project will explore how remediation and health of human and nonhuman worlds is locally and inextricably enmeshed. Feral Practice will study the different ways that nonhuman beings and forces have shaped the local landscape, informed local culture and affected local people’s lives, and will develop a new body of work from what is uncovered.

💐Fiona will produce a small exhibition of work in progress at the end of the residency, and a major exhibition in 2024, as the central exhibition of the Wirksworth Festival. The 2023 Festival runs from the 9th-16th September, with the Trail Weekend 9/10th, where over 90 artists will show in private and public spaces across this small, fascinating town.

We had a wonderful day out at Hardwick Hall, just 30 minutes east drive from The Old Mill - Fritchley

The house is really interesting to look around, and the gardens and wider walks are stunning 😍
All finished off with a treat in the cafe and some irresistible new plants from the National Trust shop!

‘Hardwick Hall, more glass than wall’ 🤩 With its huge glass windows, Hardwick Hall was so grand when it was built over 400 years ago that it inspired that very saying ☝️💎

It was the home of astute businesswoman, Bess of Hardwick who rose to become one of the most powerful women in Elizabethan England - second only to the Queen! 👑

Alongside one of Britain’s finest Elizabethan houses, Hardwick also has acres of picturesque parkland and circular walks to enjoy! 👣
