IRON RAFT was born out of the urge to explore the world and experience adventure on a budget. We are a small, independent, UK business dedicated to making packrafting in the UK affordable for everyone. A packraft is a small, inflatable boat that can pack up small enough and is light enough to carry in your backpack. This small pack size and minimal weight make packrafts the perfect companion for h

ikers, bikers and all sorts of other adventurers wanting more freedom to explore. The only downside with packrafting in the UK is the price. With no UK based manufacturers and almost all commercial brands priced between £500 and £800 plus shipping and often import tax on top, off the shelf packrafts are certainly not cheap.

Ever feel like you’re working harder than you should on open water? That’s where a removable skeg comes in. By adding a skeg to your packraft, you’ll experience improved tracking and stability, especially in windy conditions or on long paddles. Plus, when it’s time to hit the shallows or rocky rivers, just pop it off and keep paddling with ease!

Spraydeck?

Do you consider it a requirement? A difference between the Paddle Ready and Paddle Ready + is the removable spray deck. A removable spraydeck on a packraft is a detachable cover that seals the cockpit, preventing water from entering during paddling. It offers versatility, allowing users to choose when to use it based on conditions or preferences.

During the winter months we notice its popularity to stay warm during the colder outings!

A skeg is a small but mighty piece of equipment that can make a big difference in your paddling experience. By adding this to the bottom of your packraft prior to setting out, it helps improve tracking. Ultimately a skeg keeps your boat moving straight, even in windy or rough conditions.

Whether you're gliding across calm lakes or navigating winding rivers, a skeg gives you more control and reduces the need for constant course correction. It’s an essential tool for paddlers looking to boost performance, letting you focus on enjoying the adventure rather than fighting to stay on track.

Pack. Paddle. Play.

This is Ellie, a complete novice to packrafting but taking the time out of her weekend to try something new.

As adults, we often forget how important it is to play. But adventure reminds us that life is more than to-do lists and deadlines. It offers the thrill of unpredictability and the satisfaction of conquering something new. In essence, adventure is our playground, challenging us to think creatively, push our physical boundaries, and immerses us fully in the moment.
