⚠️ A24 diesel spillage update ⚠️

🚨 Following the diesel spillage on the A24 between the Beare Green roundabout to the Leatherhead M25 junction (J9), the road remains closed northbound.

🚨 We are on site making the area safe and dealing with the clean-up of this significant spillage that is approximately 16,000 litres and spans 10 miles of road.

🚨 Lane closures and dual carriageway closures which affect the A24 and adjoining roads will need to be in place whilst this incident is dealt with.

🚨 Cobham Services is also closed at this time due to diesel spillage on site.

🚨 Extensive traffic disruption is expected throughout today and over the coming days. Please avoid the area until further notice.

M25 Full Closure J10 to J11 In Both Directions This Weekend!
Modelling carried out while the plans were being developed estimated that drivers would face delays of up to five hours without mitigation measures.

This closure is in place from 9pm on Friday 15 March until 6am Monday 18 March.

If you've ever tried to drive anywhere in the surrounding villages and towns when there are significant delays on this stretch of the M25 you can only imagine the chaos that the recommended diversions will cause this weekend.

Friday 23rd February at 9:00pm to Monday 26th February at 5:30am - A3 Full Weekend Southbound and Northbound Closure Confirmed

The closure will be from 9pm on Friday 23 February until 5.30am Monday 26 February 2024 and will be closed in both directions between Send and M25 Junction 10.

The diversion routes are 25 miles going southbound and 28 miles going northbound - as shown by the blue lines on the map!

Flood-hit communities can now apply for thousands of pounds from the government to help them recover.

Residents and businesses significantly affected by recent flooding are eligible for grants from the government to help recovery,

An unprecedented full weekend closure on the A3 up to the M25 has been planned which is likely to cause chaos in Surrey, as a huge diversion has been organised for drivers to make their way around.

Smoking Ban for Runnymede Council Owned Properties

Following an earlier resident consultation on Wednesday 20th of September, Runnymede Borough Council's housing committee agreed to ban smoking on balconies across its property portfolio.

Runnymede Council said all who said smoking should not be allowed on a balcony identified themselves as a non-smoker.

From 1st September, Surrey County Council will lift charges on resident DIY waste in line with Government policy changes that were proposed in June.

Confirmed case of Omicron variant found in Surrey

The UK Health Security agency is leading the investigation into one confirmed case of the Omicron variant in Surrey

Surrey County Council and the Borough Council are working closely with UKHSA to .ensure that all contact tracing and appropriate Public Health actions, such as increased testing, take place.

COVID UPDATE:

Face coverings will become compulsory on public transport and in shops. Not including hospitality.

All international arrivals entering England must take a day 2 PCR test and self-isolate until they receive a negative result.

All contacts of suspected Omicron cases must self-isolate for 10 days, regardless of their vaccination status. They will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace.

| ‘Reuse’ is a way we can fight against plastic waste 💙

Findings in a recent report by the World Economic Forum has found that it is possible to prevent almost half of annual plastic ocean waste by reusing just 10% of our plastics products. By shifting from single use towards a ‘reuse’ model, society can start to regain ground in the fight against plastic waste. ♻️

Currently, 50% of global plastic production is for single use and only 14% of global plastic packaging is collected for recycling. The report outlines the urgent need to drive a systemic shift towards reuse models as an integral part of the reduce-reuse-recycle agenda. 🌍♻️
