It's been a busy quarter for McKinney HR, especially for Investigations. We have been working with HR Teams who need support due to their already busy workloads, to fill short term recruitment gaps (interim support) and to provide guidance on those areas that are more complex - such as those surrounding gender related beliefs. Alongside this, our most requested have been Bullying /Harassment and Inappropriate Behaviours/Conduct, which can cover numerous subheadings. We are always happy to discuss a case informally before quickly - as we know that this is important for investigations - providing a proposal and quote.

- What can employers do to maximise interactions with TU's or workplace forums
- What is the importance of trust and behaviours in relationships
- What to think about when facing a potential TU recognition request or considering implementing a staff forum

How can you promote and support staff wellbeing?

1. Hold awareness sessions - share advice or experience and show you as an employer are aware of what may affect your team
2. Do things together - organise group walks, yoga sessions, tea breaks, away day trips or whole company team building days
3. Ease workplace stress - how is your office set up to allow breaks from work? Should your staff need them? Are there quiet areas for them to focus away from others or do you have a dedicated place for people to relax?
4. Provide empowering ways for employees to speak up - regular employee engagement, surveys and a platform for staff to anonymously report incidents of bullying, discrimination or harassment that they experience or witness

With the change of government, there is a focus on industrial relations and the collective voice in the workplace. Recognising a trade union or setting up a workplace forum can have great benefits for an organisation if it is working effectively. However, there can be challenges that get in the way. Most disputes arise due to poor interactions between unions/management, often based on the behaviour of one or both sides.
