Another week of paradise with wonderful people and wonderful energy.
Sea swimming, seaweed pressing, artwork, poetry, chartered boat trips, sound meditation, yoga, massages, foraging... the list goes on.
The guests this week were INCREDIBLE and we all left on such a high.

Recently, a wonderful lady said to me, "You should tell your story."
I have been reluctant to tell my cold water swimming story in the past, but I guess everyone has many stories in their lives and this is just a chapter of mine.
We shall call this story...
'How did YOU get into cold water swimming?'
And so it begins...
Growing up by the coast, I always swam in the sea because it was fun and accessible, but not necessarily because I thought it was giving me other wholesome benefits.
Following a traumatic labour with my first son I developed postnatal anxiety and can’t remember much of the first few weeks of his life. Although he’s six now, and is the absolute light of my life, the first few weeks are a complete blur because six years ago my brain was struggling to fire on all cylinders.
I was living just outside Exeter at the time, away from family and friends and in a very rural village. I made the decision to move back home to Cornwall for some much needed support and it truly was the best decision I could have made.
Once I was back in Cornwall, I reached out to a friend who I knew swam in the sea regularly and this is where my current love story with the sea begins.
Myself and my friend used to swim every day together and I was instantly hooked on that cold water buzz. Whatever the weather, I was in the sea. If the weather was bad I used to drive us around to try to find the safest and calmest beach for us to swim from. I just couldn't miss a day in the sea. It reset me and it made me feel like me again. I was addicted.
When I had my second son, I knew what I needed to do to get through those newborn days which naturally come with very little sleep. I needed to get back in the sea. I was very lucky that second time around I had a great labour, due to having a good delivery and no stitches I was extremely fortunate to be given the go ahead from my doctors and I was back swimming in the sea three weeks after the birth.
It changed my whole postpartum journey with my second born. I was able to have my 10 minutes of self care, which was sea swimming, and also soak up those newborn days, which I felt were robbed from me during my first time as a mum.
For me, it was the sea that healed me, that supported me and made me feel like me again. It really is a place that repairs and resets and everytime I'm in the water I'm reminded of this. It is, for me, an essential place to visit for happiness and well-being.
