The relaxation of testing for visitors, or returning nationals to the UK has provided new confidence to travellers, resulting in a surge of travel bookings. Below is some guidance that might help clarify.
England:
From Friday 7 January, fully vaccinated travellers arriving into England no longer need to provide a negative PCR test or self isolate on arrival. This is replaced by a lateral flow test up to 48 hours after arrival. If this test is returned positive, a PCR test will be required to test for variants. Quarantine no longer applies.
Those who have not been double-vaccinated must take a lateral flow test as above and remain self-isolated on arrival.
Children up to 17 years and under are exempt from testing.
