Kelley Stoltz releases 18th studio album ‘La Fleur’ — out now digitally, records hit the stores this Friday

How can it be that this feels Stoltz’s finest work yet? The artist does not let up. ‘La Fleur’ ignited the office on the first spin and every play since. Heart rendering, head spinning psych-pop songwriting mastery at its very, wholesome, best. Further enhanced by guitar guru Jason Faulkner [Beck, St. Vincent] and his signature dashes of colour throughout the release

To say Kelley is an inspiration in an understatement. Without Kelley, there would be no Outsider Artists. Post-pandemic we nearly gave up on being an agency in favour of owning a trout farm in the highlands, though, Mr. Stoltz’s words of encouragement brought on a second wave, one that the artists and us have been riding ever since, so thanks is due to Stoltz.

‘La Fleur’ has been receiving high praise across UK press [did you see that 6-page Shindig Magazine feature?] and Marc Riley’s been playing out on BBC 6 Music. Take a listen and catch Kelley and band on tour next month!

Recorded in Abbey Road Studio 2 on Earth Day 2024, ‘Earth Day Blue’ is the 14th studio album release from Nick Harper, the wildly talented and much loved singer-songwriter. With John Leckie in the producer’s chair and Tchad Blake mixing, the album is a flash mob of high calibre talent assembled for a few hours’ collaboration in a very special space.

But this was not the first time Nick and John had been in session together in Studio 2. It was way back in 1973, in the very same room, that Nick was given his ‘big break’ in the world of music. The duo first ‘worked’ together when Nick, aged 8, recorded his first ever songs with John whilst Nick’s father Roy was recording his own seminal album ‘Lifemask’ with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. So the circle has been squared off and the journey is complete!

‘Earth Day Blue’ is peppered with acoustic ear-worms written with a Studio 2 Beatlesque approach of short, immediate songs — out Friday, 27th September

The Reds, Pinks & Purples ~ Still Clouds At Noon

Recorded as part of the same daydreaming puzzle as Unwishing Well, Still Clouds at Noon brings out the slowcore/sadcore elements that drift through The Reds, Pinks & Purples’ melancholy catalog. Donaldson names ‘90s hometown San Francisco acts such as American Music Club and the more obscure Timco as pivotal to his guitar playing and development as a songwriter, both of which shine bright here. The slower tempo ballads on Still Clouds… often culminate in heavy fuzz drenched codas and showcase the more abstract poetic side of Donaldson’s lyricism. There’s an inherent pop-sensibility always at work though, with ear-worm melodies appearing over intoxicating circular riffs.

Formerly a Bandcamp only digital release, this black vinyl version is remastered and adds two unreleased tracks, one featuring Mark Monnone from Australian pop-legends The Lucksmiths on bass. Edition of 500.
