Carl and I have lived on The New Forest for the past 21 years and now reside in a quiet beautiful unspoilt hamlet of this National Park called ‘North Gorley’ with our two teenage sons and a menagerie of pets including horses which graze in the paddocks directly outside the cabin.
Our property was part of Ibsley RAF base during WWII and we believe that the cabin, which is an original WWII maycrete building, was used as a gate house. We have 2 air raid shelters in the paddock and the stable block used to be a latrine block for the RAF base.
We opened the doors of what we call ‘The Little Gate House’ in 2009 and have had the pleasure of welcoming so many guests to enjoy our stunning part of the country. It is an idyllic base for couples in a peaceful enviable location with south facing views from an elevated large decked area. There is so much wildlife to be seen if you just sit still quietly for long enough, the open New Forest is literally on the doorstep waiting to be explored and we have excellent quick and easy access to roads so guests can explore further afield. Southampton, Bournemouth and Salisbury can all be reached within 30 minutes and the Jurassic coast is within visting distance too.
We also have a fabulous local pub within a 15 minute walk and an award winning farm shop and cafe within a 10 minute walk.
