It's been some time since I've posted on here. The last 20 months have been the most difficult time the African travel industry have faced. My beloved Oryx Journeys has been no exception. Currently in Kenya (easier said than done) I sit pondering how things got this bad. It is clear, to me at least, that the way we as a society is governed must change. The power lies with out of touch people in government who take their authority for granted. The people must take back their voices and their freedom to choose. And their right to travel internationally.
Hard times still lie ahead.
I believe that despite all the restrictions, red tape and ineffective bans and lockdowns the human desire and spirit to travel will overcome.

I have really been missing my home country in the past couple of months! And the last 8 years I lived in South Africa I called 'Joburg' home. It is a misunderstood, magical and menacing place all at once. Most visitors skip this city on their itinerary but it is 'midway' between the Cape, the Kruger...

Destination Zanzibar.

Zanzibar is a Tanzanian archipelago off the coast of East Africa. Famous for its mix of exotic beaches, the northern villages are dotted with hotels to enjoy the white sands and turquoise waters.

A must do activity is to take a tour of the spice plantation, a very unique experience in this part of the world. Equally so, a trip to Stone Town - the ancient heart of Zanzibar - which stands frozen in time.
