On the shores of Loch Ness, a Loch famous for its tales of sea creatures and mystic grandeur, you will find an equally magical castle.

Urquhart Castle stands tall overlooking the loch and is the setting of many historical stories and battles. While you can visit the castle ruins on land, an alternative way to enjoy the castle is to take a cruise on the loch.

Glenfinnan House Hotel recently reopened its doors after a stunning refurbishment. We went to check it out and were impressed by the attention to detail and its delightful setting on Loch Shiel. The rooms are fabulous and the common areas are beautifully decorated and welcoming

The hotel is just a stone's throw from the Bonnie Prince Charlie monument and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, making it the perfect place to stay if you wish to explore the Glenfinnan area on foot.

Recently our Founder, Aeneas, had the pleasure of visiting , a beautiful and impressive exclusive-use property in the heart of whisky country. We have had clients stay here as part of a luxury whisky tour of Scotland and they agreed it was one of the highlights of their vacation.

Aeneas said about the trip: "Rothes Glen was truly fantastic. During our stay, we were treated to many activities such as fishing and archery before retiring to the lounge for whisky tasting and an exquisite dinner. The rooms were incredible and the staff were extremely welcoming and attentive."

Honesty box shops are dotted around the rural parts of Scotland. Sometimes they are just a small box selling chicken's eggs, other times they sell crafts, cakes, jams and more.

This community garden shop on the Ardnamurchan peninsula sells fresh produce grown in the allotment and looks like something out of a Wez Anderson movie.

The Scottish Crannog Centre has recently reopened after a huge renovation.

The centre offers a glimpse into Scotland's ancient past and Iron Age living. Situated on the shores of Loch Tay, this unique heritage centre features a reconstructed Iron Age village and crannog - a type of ancient dwelling house that was built out on the loch.

Through interactive exhibits, acting demonstrations, and guided tours, visitors can experience firsthand how our ancestors lived and worked in these remarkable structures over 2,500 years ago.

May in Scotland is when the scenery comes to life in a myriad of colours and hues. The hills are lush and green and the flowers are blooming. It is one of our favourite times of the year.

The gorse, in particular, provides much vibrance, due to its bright yellow flowers and tenacious nature. It can be found all across the country in the springtime.
