Callout 16/08/24: At 0734hrs the team were asked to assist a walker whose family contacted police with concerns for their wellbeing.
Having set out early to explore the area above the Bloody Bridge, the walker displayed out of character behaviour during phone calls to a family member, leading to concerns that a head injury may have occurred.
The team responded and when the individual was not immediately located, sought support from SARDA IN, Skywatch NI and PSNI air support.
As resources were gathering, two other walkers, to whom a team member had earlier been talking, spotted the person concerned and were able to offer initial assistance and direct team members to the location.
It became clear that the walker had indeed sustained a head injury as a result of a fall.
He was assisted to a team vehicle, taken to the roadside and handed into the care of NIAS for onward transfer to hospital.
6 team members were in attendance with others en route.
Thanks to SARDA IN, Skywatch NI, PSNI Air Support, local police and the two walkers for assistance. We wish the injured person well.
