Just recently someone reached out to get some help planning a long distance trail in the Pyrenees, the Camí dels Bons Homes (GR107). We have written a guidebook for this trail and have gained a great amount of knowledge during the research. He is planning to travel with his daughter and complete the walk later in the season. I provided him with advice on accommodation and transportation as well as on the nature of the terrain expected on certain sections.

When you are planning any long distance trail it is very important to plan well ahead, making sure you know how the route will be broken up and where you will be staying overnight. Some trails get extremely busy in high season, but there are some trails that are still relatively less know where you don't have to wrestle for your own personal space.

The Camí dels Bons Homes (GR107) is one of these trails and I can highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't like the crowds on their trek. However - as the lovely gentleman has done it - plan your trip well in advance.

We are in the wonderful city and region of Valencia for a few days. Of course we try to squeeze in as much as possible into our stay here. This is not our first time in the Community of Valencia, and there is good reason to that. The area is dotted with an amazing amount of wonderful hiking trails. These may not climbing up the highest mountains, but the scenery and history along these trails would definitely bring us back here. The Comunidad Valenciana extends all the way down to Murcia, basically including the Costa Blanca as well with a myriad of trails inland. The area is perfect for your winter or spring walking holiday as the temperature is just perfect. It would get far too hot in the summer season.

If you are longing for those heart warming sunny walks but can not wait until warmer weather finally reaches the UK (or wherever you are based), March and April could be the perfect time for walking in Andalusia in southern Spain. The built-up belt on the coastline of Andalusia around Malaga caters for tourists with bars, restaurants and plenty of accommodation. You might find that some of the facilities are only open for the main summer season; however the places that stay open all year round most probably drop their prices during the off season.
