So fortunate to have scenes like these a stones throw from our holiday cottages.

Team this with 3 pubs in the village, and 2 more within a walkable distance, and you’ve got yourself a pretty good short break away. You can even bring your furry four legged family members.

It’s not all peaks in ‘The Peaks’.

This tranquil scene can be found only 3-4 miles walk from the doors of Maggies Cottage and The Hideaway. (Complete circular walk 6-8 miles)
Walk out of the village towards the picnic site, continue through Tideswell Dale and turn left to walk past Litton Mill. Cross the bridge and turn left, following the river. When you reach this point (photo) have three options…
1/ Continue on and to the right up to Monsal head (a busy but beautiful spot for lunch) and return back to Tideswell along the Monsal trail,
2/ Continue on and to the left returning to Tideswell through the villages of Cressbrook and Litton (perfect for a quieter spot of lunch).
3/ Turn back to Tideswell the way you came.

Options 1 and 2 both have steep hills whereas option 3 has just a long but small incline.

Spring is a great time to visit the Peak District.

This walk - with a perfect riverside pub stop halfway at The Anglers Rest in Millersdale- can be started from the front door of either Maggies Cottage or The Hideaway.

⭐️!!! Last Minute Half Term availability !!!⭐️

Maggies Cottage is available for bookings from tomorrow for a last minute half term break.

It might be damp outside but it’s definitely a cosy stay at this (dog friendly) cottage.
There’s loads of walks straight from the door, to take in the autumnal colours, or it’s just a short drive to lots of top Peak District spots.

Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Thornbridge Hall are all within a short drive if stately homes and gardens are your thing. Or mooch around the shops at Buxton, Bakewell and Castleton.

Tideswell is a well equipped village with cafes, restaurants and welcoming pubs serving great food!

Bella and Willow were two very happy guests at Maggies Cottage last weekend. They took turns to make themselves super comfortable in their favourite spot. Soaking up the warmth of the sun. Then sat outside to watch the carnival procession pass by.

Both Maggies Cottage and The Hideaway are pet friendly…I think we even have a gecko coming to stay soon!

We took advantage of the beautiful weather here today and ‘nipped’ out for a little walk.
Straight from the front door -so perfect for if you’re staying either at Maggies or The Hideaway.

Tideswell-Tideswell Dale-Monsal Trail-Little Longstone-Ashford. Stopped for a lovely lunch at The Aisseford Tearoom, and then headed back this time walking over the fields from Ashford to Monsal head-Cressbrook-Ravensdale-Cressbrook Dale-Tansley dale-Litton and finally Tideswell.
18km of stunning views and peaceful scenes.
