It's been the countdown to bedtime since mid afternoon...the time comes, you crack open the wine, put your feet up...finished.
Does your little one get frustrated with not being able to do things themselves?
Supporting your toddler to keep trying is a great way to develop valuable life skills and not only that, acknowledging the struggle, their effort and their persistence will really help your little one to feel good about themselves even when they don't quite manage to get the end result they wanted.
Your child often seeks confirmation from you, so celebrating the attempts in these situations and offering solidarity goes a long way to integrating the logical and emotional brain, as well as verifying that we aren't always judged by the end result.
You may find some of these sentences useful, or take inspiration from them for the next time your little one is trying so hard but getting more and more frustrated!

🌿 EDIBLE PAINT ACTIVITY 🌿
Easily adaptable for you little babies and bigger children!
Here I share with you how we explored edible paint today, following montosorri inspired ways of learning through play.
Whilst I set the activity up with learning outcomes in mind, the play was totally child led and open to interpretation.
We foraged leaves from the woods yesterday and whilst the boys had their own free range of what they collected for play, I made sure I had a nice selection of different shapes and sizes to use for this activity. I knew I wanted that to be one of the learning outcomes so made sure the leaves were all a similar colour, meaning size and shape was the main variable.
🌿 PLEASE NOTE: Our play is rarely this structured!! I don't want to create any false sense of 'ideal play' - my house is a tip, free play rules and we get outside as often as we can! 🌿
I had to share this again...Happy Sunday everyone.
