HELP RAISE MONEY FOR COPPAFEEL!!!! 🌟

ESN Southampton are raising money on behalf of the Uni B**b team this February by running/walking/cycling as far as we can. UBT Varsity is an inter-university challenge, where we're attempting to track the most kilometres we can within the month, to raise money for CoppaFeel.

📢📢📢 Calling all students and Erasmus members to join in to help us get those kilometres and raise money for CoppaFeel 📢📢📢

CoppaFeel! are the first UK breast cancer charity to create awareness amongst young people, with the aim to install a new healthy habit that could one day save a life. They are on a mission to stamp out late detection of breast cancer and ensure the nation is checking their b***s regularly. They want to educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, encourage them to get to know what is normal for them and empower young people to have the confidence to see a doctor if they notice anything that isn't right for them.

If you can get involved but would still like to raise money for the charity, you can donate on our fundraising link:

And for those who want to get involved, join the Strava team as shown in the pictures!

Please take some time to read the official Brexit statement from ESN UK National Board.

Dear students, volunteers and stakeholders, it is with our deepest regrets that we bring to your attention the news of the UK's withdrawal from the Erasmus+ programme. “Erasmus Student Network regrets to see that the UK Government chose to not continue the cooperation with the EU in the field of Education under the Erasmus+ programme.” - ESN International (source: esn.org/news)

ESN UK will continue to operate and is entering 2021 with a positive mindset for the future of exchanges internationally. We are committed to supporting our exchange and international students, as well as promoting the benefits of exchange to all students around the world. The strength and tenacity of our national and local volunteers remains high, with 6 new universities having joined this year and new candidate sections looking to apply despite the challenges of the pandemic and political uncertainty.

ESN recently voted on a constitutional change that will allow us to expand our borders outwith the European Higher Education Area. With this in mind, we welcome the Turing Scheme to which the UK Government has pledged its allegiance with the promise of supporting disadvantaged and disabled students on a wider scale. We hope this will enhance, not hinder, students to go on life-changing exchanges to countries around the world.

Below you will find two useful and informative links. The first is an article written by ESN International documenting the popularity of the UK as a destination for Erasmus students. The second is an official press release from the UK Government on the Turing Scheme with which they are set to replace the Erasmus+ programme.

ESN UK is always here for any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to reach out on our social media or email, either as a board or individually.

Anti-Bullying Week 2020 : United Against Bullying

❣️One child in every classroom experiences bullying every day, according to Anti-bullying Alliance. This is why we need to work together to combat bullying.

❣️The anti-bullying alliance is working harder than ever to campaign against bullying: “This year, more than ever, we’ve witnessed the positive power that society can have when we come together to tackle a common challenge. Anti-Bullying Week is no different. Bullying has a long lasting effect on those who experience and witness it. But by channelling our collective power, through shared efforts and shared ambitions, we can reduce bullying together. From parents and carers, to teachers and politicians, to children and young people, we all have a part to play in coming together to make a difference. We’re all a piece in the puzzle, and together, we’re united against bullying.”

❣️This week, ESN are asking you to think about when you were a child and if you had been bullied, what help would you wish you had?

Now, how can you be the help you wish you had received?

Let’s be the adults we looked up to when we were young, and help stop the bullying of young people and adults. Speak up for someone in your university, workplace or on the street that you see being bullied. Be there for others.

Be the adult you looked up to.

We are so happy to be a part of such a loving community in ESN, and want to make sure all of our members feel safe and happy at all times. If you ever have any issues, please reach out to us. We are here to help you!

Hey guys !

Hope everyone is doing well at the moment and anyone currently in lockdown or self-isolation is coping okay. If you need someone to talk to, as always the committee are happy to chat ❤️

As we have entered into lockdown in the UK, along with many other countries, we thought it would be a great opportunity to have a mini-competition to keep everyone’s spirits up!

The theme of the competition is Health & Wellbeing 🏃🛀💐

What this means is that we will provide you with a range of activities which will benefit your own health and wellbeing. The time we expect of each activity is not too long as we know that everyone has busy schedules… but we just want to encourage you to make time for yourself and your own wellbeing!

Here are the activities we encourage you to do! Each activity is worth 5 points:

Walk (15 minutes – 1 hour)
Run (15 – 30 minutes)
Home workout (15 – 30 minutes)
Yoga (10 – 20 minutes)
Meditation (5 – 15 minutes)
Writing in a journal (5-15 minutes)
Reading a book (15 – 30 minutes)
Having a catch up with a friend over the phone (15 minutes)
Being creative by drawing, painting, scrapbooking or making something, (30 minutes)
Playing an instrument (15 minutes)

You will get 2 points for trying one of these activities even if you don’t do it for the amount of time stated and you will get 10 points if you exceed the amount of time stated for each activity! We will also give 5 points for any activity that we have not mentioned which helps you with your own wellbeing.

Keep record of all the activities you manage to do and try and get proof of each activity (e.g. use strava/nike run club to show your walk/run or take a photo of any activity you’ve done!).

Then send the activities that you’ve managed to do to Elisabeth, the volunteering and causes coordinator.

The person with the most points at the end of November will be the winner. You will get a FREE ESN CARD!!!!! And…the runner up will get half price off the ESN card!!! This card last for an entire year and will provide you will loads of discounts including: travel, accommodation, online services & loads more!
(you can find out the discount details here: https://esncard.org/blog/join-erasmus-generation-get-esncard )

Let’s gooooo!

ESN love x

Did you know that each year more than 150,000 international students get their ESNcard? But what is the ESNcard and what is it used for?
