The sacrifices we have to make for the rally. This evening we had to meet at the wonderful Hawkins Arms at Probus, eat fabulous food and consume various drinks (just to be polite), all in the name of the rally.

Over 1.4 tonnes of food was donated to St Austell Foodbank

🎉 What a record-breaking day for the St Austell foodbank! 🎉

On Sunday, 8th December, we smashed the record for the largest foodbank collection in a single day in St Austell, gathering an incredible 1444.8kg of food! This surpasses the previous record by nearly half a tonne – which, funnily enough, was set by us last year! .

The day kicked off in style with our Supermarket Sweep 2024 at 9:45 am. Seven teams had 15 minutes to shop for a list of essential items, each armed with a £100 budget generously provided by Cornwall Banger Rally Challenge .

Here are the results:

🏆 1st Place: The Monkeys - £100 prize
🥈 2nd Place: The Cornish Maids - £70 prize
🥉 3rd Place: Guy, Elf and Brodie - £50 prize

In a heartwarming gesture, all the winning teams donated their prize money to the Foodbank. 💕

But that’s not all – Asda will also be donating an additional £300-£600 to the Foodbank based on the total weight of food collected! 🙌

This incredible day was made possible by the Cornwall Banger Rally Challenge team, the organisation responsible for next year’s exciting Banger Rally Vienna or Bust and The Cornball '25. What sets us apart? We’re entirely run by volunteers, and every penny of profit goes to support local charities.

This Supermarket Sweep is just one of many events held by Cornwall Banger Rally Challenge throughout the year to support our local community. Thank you to everyone who participated on the day and on Split or Bust earlier in the year. And a huge thankyou to everyone who came down to support us, donated, and cheered us on. Massive thank you to Kapilla, Emma and the team at ASDA and Andy and the team from the Foodbank. Together, we’re making a real difference!
