We would like to make contact with the family of Captain Harold Edward Howse, who was killed in action near Ypres on 16 August 1917. Captain Howse was born on 17 February 1894 in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. He was one of 3 sons born to Walter Henry Howse and his wife Jessie Gowie. Although South African, Captain Howse was serving with 2nd Battalion The Royal Berkshire Regiment at the time of his death. Significant work has already been carried out by JCCC to trace his family which has established that there are close relatives of Captain Howse still alive in South Africa. The final step is to trace these family members and to make contact with them. If you think you are related to Captain Howse or know of someone who is, please contact us at: [email protected]
