Wonderful response from all who attended. Thanks to all CMRT.

CMRT have responded to two human triggered avalanches in Coire an t-Sneachda in the Northern Cairngorms today. The first involve 3 climbers and the second involved 2. Both incidents resulted in multi agency responses. We would like to thanks RAF Valley and RAF Lossiemouth who gave medical attention and began the evacuation of the injured climbers before being joined by CMRT. As always Cairngorm Mountain Resort provided assistance throughout the rescues.

More fun for the family @ Boat of Garten

Hop on board our heritage steam train for a trip through the stunning Highlands. You’ll travel a lovely 10-mile route from Aviemore to Broomhill, passing through Boat of Garten. It’s like stepping back in time, with all the sights and sounds of a classic train journey.

Travel in a traditional standard heritage carriage. And guess what? Kids under five can ride for free! Plus, you can grab a special family discount ticket. Feeling peckish? There’s a trolley service with drinks and snacks, available to purchase, or you can bring your own picnic onboard.

Got a furry friend? Dogs are welcome in our standard carriages, dog tickets are only £3.

Have a wee day out, in standard travel you can break your journey, getting off at our destination station - Boat of Garten and spend some time exploring this pretty village, pick up an information leaflet and walking map at our station.

Want to treat yourself? Upgrade to our Observation carriage. It has panoramic windows for amazing views, comfy armchairs, and we’ll even serve you tea, coffee, and a wee snack.

Fancy a wee dram? Visit our onboard bar, with a variety of beverages available to purchase.

So, what are you waiting for? Come and make some memories on a steam* train that you won't forget!

After Christmas enjoy a Ne'erday Treat steaming through scenic Strathspey in the Cairngorms National Park. Step on board our Mince Pie Specials and let our steam* locomotive take the strain while you relax & enjoy a mince pie while watching the wintry world go by,

On 1st January, join us to help launch Rail 200, celebrating 200 years of the railway, with our Ne’erday Noon Whistle Down - where railway locos throughout Britain will herald the start of this special railway year, by blowing their distinctive whistles.

A trolley service is available to purchase drinks and snacks on the Mince Pie Specials.

Children (3-15) will receive an activity book and crayons.

Journey time (Aviemore to Broomhill and return) 1h 30m

Babies (0-3) on knee travel free.

Departures available:

12:30 – Take in the wintery landscape, of the Cairngorms National Park, as you steam* along our Highland Heritage line.

15:00 – Experience the Highland winter golden hour, as you steam* along our Highland Heritage line.

Scheduled dates:

December: Sat 28th and Sun 29th.
January: Wed 1st, Thu 2nd, Fri 3rd, Sat 4th and Sun 5th.

The Highland Wildlife Park celebrates birth of first ever baby vicuna cria (the term for baby vicunas, llamas, alpacas, and guanacos) – the first one ever to be born at the park 🩷

Born to parents Coco and Austria on Wednesday 23 October, keepers at the wildlife conservation charity say the female youngster is doing well and will be named soon. Visitors will be able to spot her exploring the drive-through reserve with mum close by.
