For many a trip to India involves the 'Golden Triangle' tour. Visiting Delhi, Jaipur and Agra for the Taj Mahal may be with a bit of tiger safari included. Delhi has over 1600 monuments to visit, 3 that stand out for me are Qutab Minar, Humayun’s tomb and Jama Masjid a mosque that holds 25,000. Jaipur is often called the 'Pink city' due to the colour is was painted for a visit by the Prince of Wales in 1876. At the time, pink was the symbolic colour of hospitality. As the people of Jaipur are known for their incredible hospitality, Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh I had the whole city painted pink to welcome the royals. It’s said that Prince Albert nicknamed Jaipur the ‘Pink City’ and the name stuck. Agra and the Taj Mahal is a must for any first time visitor - it is one of the most breathtaking monuments in the world. Most people also then opt for a safari for the thrill of a tiger sighting, Kanha is one of the best parks for that. To find out how you can take this tour, message us here of visit our Cities and tigers web page https://pugmarkadventures.co.uk/cities-and-tigers/

As darkness falls and you have to leave the sights and smells of the jungle for another day, what will you have seen? As a place to mix cultural and architecture with wildlife very few places on Earth will come close to India. Our Cities and Tigers tour combines a 'Golden Triangle tour' with a tiger safari. The triangle is made up of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra - all with stunning sights to be explored. We can tailor your sights if you have specific ones you wish to visit so when you look at our website remember the timings are very flexible. Couple this with safari in either Kanha (my personal favorite due to the other animals you can also find here) or Ranthambore, both brilliant for tiger sightings. contact us to see how we could enable your visit either via here or the website. https://pugmarkadventures.co.uk/cities-and-tigers/

The Iconic tiger is normally at the top of the list for wildlife enthusiasts when they visit India. However, India has so much more to offer, which is just as endangered but often harder to see. The sloth bear and wild dog are two I have been privileged to see while in Kanha National park. Check out our tour and send us a message via the button or our website, to find out how we can (hopefully, as they are wild) help you see not only the Tiger but some of India's other special wildlife. Contact us via here or our website for more details - https://pugmarkadventures.co.uk/wildlifeholidays/

Going to India had always been somewhere I wanted to visit and like everybody else going to the Taj Mahal was definitely on my list. However, I wasn't ready for the experience that was waiting for me. Walking through the park from the very busy road where we were dropped off I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting and what took me by surprise was the magnificent gate that was the entrance, I think the South entrance, to the Taj Mahal. It took 22 years to build, denoted by the small turrets on top of the gate, which actually was longer than the Raj was married to the love of his life. Marveling at the gate as I walked through it, I was stunned by the vision that was the Taj Mahal. Leading up to it was a small lake very narrow and the Taj Mahal itself just looked like it was floating. It was bathed in the most gorgeous light as it's made completely of marble each colour in the sky was reflected in its walls. It just looked surreal. The surrounding gardens are stunning filled with bird life it truly took my breath away.

Jaipur features on 2 of our tours but the fascinatingly city is one of my favorite places to visit. It has a number of wonderful places to visit each with their own beauty. The palace on the lake Jar Mahal - can only be viewed from afar but it sort of floats on the lake rather than stands in it. The Amber palace or Amer Fort - here everything is just on a different scale and so beautifully decorated. The elephant taxis only work in the morning when it is cool as the are off in their own sanctuary once the day warms up. Jantar Mantar in the center of the city and was built by the Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734. It is an astronomical observatory, which features the world’s largest stone sundial and 2 huge stone clocks as part of 19 stone instruments. The City Palace is yet another beautiful place to visit, its back façade is probably more famous then the front door. And if that is not enough then a visit to Hanuman Temple more commonly known as the Monkey temple. Here in a Hindu temple monkeys run freely through the site and are fed but the residents. If you fancy visiting here the contact us via here or our website for more information.

The Iconic tiger is normally at the top of the list for wildlife enthusiasts when they visit India, and the adrenaline will flow when you get to see them. However, India has so much more to offer, which is just as endangered but often harder to see. The sloth bear and wild dog are two I have been privileged to see while on safari in Kanha National park. But India also has monuments which will leave you speechless; Taj Mahal in Agra, Amber and City palaces in Jaipur. Our Cities and Tigers tour is tailored to try and give you a full immersion in the country and its wonders. When people talk about India 3 things often come into the conversation, the food, tigers and the Taj mahal. The food changes in its complexity of flavour as you move around India and each person will have a different take as to which they like the best. One of my favourates was Courtyard House hotel in Kanha where you can stay while on safari, not hot but full of subtle flavours. The Taj Mahal is a place where in amongst large numbers of visitors you can get lost in your thoughts particularly once you have been told the love story and heartbreak around why it was built. If that's not enough then you have the hunt for the tiger of safari, an open jeep that takes you and your guide around the jungle. If you lucky then you will see one of the most powerful but graceful hunters on the planet. We have plenty of trips you might enjoy each can be tailored to you but one might be https://pugmarkadventures.co.uk/taj-temples-and-tigers-2/ or https://pugmarkadventures.co.uk/cities-and-tigers/ contact us here or via our website for more information.

Safari in India part 3. Breakfast is a packed one taken at on of the eating zones in the park, here there are toilets and a place to get out of the jeep and stretch your legs. Once back in the jeep you head off in search of the more elusive animals once again. Stopping every so often and the guide and driver listening for the tell tail signs of tigers, after all that's what most people have come to see. Everybody in the jeep hears the rustling in the undergrowth and then out pops one of the rarer animals in the Kanha jungle a Sloth bear, who proceeds to amble across the road. We move on and come across a couple of jeeps, the guides have a quick conflab and we turn the engine off and wait. Hushed voices as the alarm calls from the Langur monkeys are close and common. Then without warning she appears almost next to the jeep! Wow and the heart is pumping how can something so big be so hard to see! What to know how you can have this experience, contact us via here or our website.

Indian safari part 2. The jeep stops and as the sound of the engine dies away the guide listens intently to the sounds of the jungle, every rustle, grunt or howl tells him if the resident tiger of that patch is about and on the move. The anticipation builds only to be dashed by the silence. Still plenty to see at the watering hole, here the White spotted deer are drinking and a Stork is resting. A samba deer in a near by creak is on high alert as she has a foal somewhere close. On the grassland the wild pigs are grassing so the tiger is elsewhere or sleeping and the rest of the wildlife can relax. TBC or ask for more information, via here or our website.

Safari in India - What's it like? Mornings start quite early so you tend to be in the jeep as the sun rises. This is a magical time to listen to the jungle as it wakes up and moves into the 'hustle and bustle' of the day. The morning chorus include not only the birds but the langur monkeys all telling each other what's going on in their patch. As the gates of the park open your jeep rolls forward and picks up your assigned park ranger and enters the park. At first on tarmac but this soon gives way to more rustic dirt tracks as you make you way to the area you have been assigned. (each area only has a limited number of jeeps allowed and some have none.) TBC, or for more information contact us here or via our website.

The sounds smells and colours of India are truly amazing, in the cities or the countryside. From the cleaning lady in the Amber palace in her red and gold sari and the Pink city itself to the white throated kingfisher or peacock in Kanha national park. Jaipur's vibrant hum of a city that never sleeps to the silence in the jungle when the tiger is close. And then the fabulous aromas of spices from the food cooking both in the hotel and on the street. Experience this sensory overload for yourself - see how we can help by contacting us here or via our website.
