40+ YEARS AGO & THIS HAPPENED…..

As a child, I came to Salcombe on family holidays on repeat. Umpteen fond memories that I cherish to this day….

• countless hours sat in Whitestrand with Dad watching boats coming in & out of the harbour, while mum meandered around the shops and hoping she’d return with a foodie treat.

• family coastal treks out to Bolt Head - a must in mum’s eyes on every visit, where I’ll admit I was a reluctant participant most of the time!!

• my love of swimming races in the pool at The Marine Hotel, followed by a couple of games of table tennis afterwards - of course I had to win at them all!!

My childhood holiday memories of Salcombe are a fundamental driving force behind today’s Salcombe Abode.

It’s an absolute privilege to help our guests make those all important precious holiday memories to cherish for a lifetime.

CELEBRATING & REMEMBERING DADS…. Today, we celebrate all those amazing Dad’s and Father figures around us and remember those Dad’s that are sadly no longer with us for whatever reason. We also send much love and strength to all those who find days like today incredibly difficult for whatever reason. To name just a few - the hours we spent sat in Whitestrand watching the world go by, those fun filled times you chased after my kite at South Sands, the collecting of shells & pebbles at North Sands to store in your wax jacket to remember the good times and those magical summer days we enjoyed watching the Merlin Rockets race from the Marine Hotel open air swimming pool while I lived my best life in the swimming pool. I’m forever grateful to you Dad for introducing me to Salcombe and passing on your deepest love for this truly magical place.
