🚆 Athens Metro 🚆

We made our way from the airport to the hotel using the metro system. It's such a simple system to use and VERY cheap! For €20 each, we had a 3 day pass, and that included the journey from the airport to the hotel and not just whilst in the centre of Athens!! Amazing value and all safe to use even late at night. It does get busy during working peak hours, but other than that, we always got a seat. It's open daily from 5.30 am depending on the station and closed around 11pm. However, on a Friday and Saturday night, it stayed open till around 2am! Well worth using!

Found some funky bars tonight and had some amazing meze! Forgot to take pics of some of the dishes!
We also found a small square where all the locals were hanging out listening to a live band!

We watched the changing of the guards this afternoon and wow! Amazing to watch! Even better as they were cute....

We also went to the Athens Academy. Gorgeous building.

🏛 Athens day 2 - Part one 🏛

Early start today with a visit to the Acropolis. Got there for 8am and so glad we did! The queue 20 minutes later was mental and with the heat today it would have been unbearable. The hill is steep but worth it and seeing such history is one place is overwhelming.

Such a lovely day. Our hotel is lovely but isn't in the best area which isn't great but thankfully a lovely local friend of mine told me before venturing out!! Did have a little wander around the safe parts and ate in an area called Psirri. Such a gorgeous place and it's like the Northern Quarter in Manchester. Another fab nugget of information from another friend.

Lots of walking tomorrow but cannot wait to see more of this City
