I recently went on a dream holiday to Thailand, but one thing that bothered me since I booked it was my fear of fish. Thailand is full of stunning islands, all accessible by boat, and all the trips include snorkelling. We were also visiting Elephant Hills, a lake camp surrounded by large fish. I had been warned about this and that fish food was even sold at the harbour, which made me anxious for months leading up to the trip.

I met Yvonne Pritchard at a networking meeting, and she told me about the therapy she offers to help people with phobias. I was extremely sceptical but decided I had nothing to lose. After the first session, I thought, 'What a load of nonsense,' but afterwards, I started thinking, 'Why can’t I do this?' After the second session, I again felt like the therapy was a bit far-fetched, but I realised I could at least try getting into the water.

Anyone who knows me well knows I am terrified of fish, and even the thought of getting in the water with them, or looking at them, was a definite no-no. But the therapy worked! I went on three snorkelling trips and swam with medium-sized fish, and I might even say I enjoyed it!
When we reached Elephant Hills, I didn’t quite get into the water with the bigger fish, but I sat on the decking and watched them instead.

Phuket Paradise:
Thailand adventures

Just spent an unforgettable three nights in Phuket, indulging in pure luxury at Keemala above Kamala Beach. This stunning 5-star retreat is perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries, special occasions—or simply if you love the finer things in life! The service was exceptional, the attention to detail impeccable, and the food? Absolutely out of this world.
Choosing the right room at this resort is key as not all of them have the sun, great views and sunbeds.

Kamala Beach is easily the best spot in Phuket, offering a gorgeous stretch of sand and breathtaking sunsets.
We also took a speedboat trip to the Khai Islands and Naga Island, both boasting crystal-clear waters. Naga Island, in particular, was a rare gem—one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen, with only a handful of tourists allowed to visit.

Now, it’s back to Bangkok for one final night, complete with a magical dinner river cruise.

Thailand’s Elephant Hills – An Unforgettable Adventure

Another incredible stop on my Thailand adventure, and this one had been on my bucket list for ages! in Khao Sok National Park is the perfect mix of adventure, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery.

First stop: Elephant Camp
We started with a peaceful canoe ride down the river, spotting monkeys, snakes, birds, and even otters. Then came the highlight—feeding the elephants! These rescued beauties now live stress-free, with their only “job” being to eat fruit from visitors like us. Not a bad life!

Back at camp, we watched a lovely dance performance by local school kids before falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle. The food was amazing, the views were unreal, and the staff were so welcoming.

Next up: Floating Lake Camp
After a scenic drive into Khao Sok National Park, we arrived at the floating camp—tents on the water surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. We hiked through the jungle, swam, paddleboarded, and canoed before watching the most magical sunset from our floating tents.

This morning, we could either go on another wildlife canoe trip or just relax and soak in the view. Then, on the way back to the mainland, something incredible happened—we saw a wild elephant by the shore! Such a rare and special moment to end an already unforgettable trip.

Khao Lak - A Hidden Gem! 🌴✨

From Koh Yao Noi, you can head to Krabi or Phuket—we chose Phuket and then made our way to Khao Lak. And wow… it was even better than expected!

Not too touristy, Khao Lak still has its charming small-town vibe, stunning beaches, and plenty of family-run restaurants. We soaked up the sun on the beach one day and spent the next exploring the breathtaking Similan Islands. Oh, and guess what? We found Nemo while snorkeling! 🐠💙

Next stop: Khao Sok! Time for some jungle adventures and an up-close encounter with elephants! 🐘🌿

Three Incredible Nights on Koh Yao Noi ✨🏝️

What an amazing few days! Koh Yao Noi is absolutely stunning—still untouched by mass tourism, it has kept its charming small-island vibe.

We’ve had the best time exploring—taking a fantastic boat trip to nearby islands, discovering hidden beaches, and even renting scooters (something I never thought I’d do!). To top it all off, we had a private cooking class where we learned to make Pad Thai, Thai green curry, and fish cakes.

Tomorrow, we say goodbye to our little sunset house and head to Khao Lak. But for now, here are some highlights from our time on this beautiful island! 📸✨

Bangkok complete (for now)!
We had a great day visiting the Grand Palace and a number of temples, taking a long boat river tour, lunch like a local and learning all about Thai culture and history with our guide.
Top tips for Bangkok -
If you can, do a private tour. Bangkok is busy and hot so much less waiting around.
If you can stretch to a premium economy seat then it is definitely worth the extra. We landed feeling rested and relaxed.
We stayed at The Banyan Tree in the centre of Bangkok. It has a fabulous rooftop bar overlooking the city and the food is some of the best we have ever had.
We have an internal flight to Phuket today. Check In was easy and we are all excited for our next adventure. Koh Yao Noi here we come !
