Hear me out. What if in fact, the story got it all wrong? What If Cinders WAS fed up of the mundane, packed a bag and boarded a plane instead of a pumpkin carriage? What if instead of glass slippers, she donned walking boots, laced them up tight and explored the world.

Just a stone’s throw away is Lake Vyrnwy, a Victorian dam constructed in the 1880s in the Vyrnwy Valley to supply fresh water to Liverpool. Experience the walks and trails of the 24,000-acre RSPB Reserve, with viewpoints and hides around the lake to observe the amazing variety of birds and scenery. There are plenty of activities too, including boating, adventure activities, cycle hire, walking and horse trails. There are local craft shops to visit and excellent places to eat.

It’s been 5 years in the making

5 years ago the world shifted. Like tectonic plates attempting to reposition, it was messy. In its wake chaos reigned and everything I had built, crumbled. Without warning. An earthquake shook the world and left behind ruins of what had been the future I’d planned.

Yet, in the aftermath of destruction we are faced with decisions. Do we allow the dust to settle, to comfortably find a new landscape shaped by the world around it; or do we build something from the ruins. Do we rebuild more thoughtfully? More beautifully? More sustainably than before.

5 years ago, that woman was me. My world imploded overnight yet, at the same time, excruciatingly slowly. A high definition disaster in slow motion. In the years that followed I have built strong foundations and explored the world. One adventure at a time. Travel has set my soul alight, its taught me patience when I need it and to embrace risk when excitement calls. From making dumplings in China to waking up in Yosemite on my birthday I’ve collected memories and curated moments I’ll smile recalling when I’m older.

And now, after 5 years…… it’s time to help do that for others.

Here’s to the women finding their sense of adventure. To the women rebuilding and celebrating their wins. To the women who wander solo. To the women who raise each other up. To the women finding their voice and to those singing from the mountain tops.
