Every garden is different with its own character and remit to work within. Surrey Trees and Gardens will work with whatever ideas, or concepts you
may have. We have not only the practical skills and years of experience to turn your dream garden into reality but we will be able to help you with any design concepts you may have. SOFT LANDSCAPING
Soft landscaping deals with the planting, turfing,
water feature, shrubs, container gardens and hanging baskets. It is the process of designing the elements of a landscape that do not involve construction. These elements include trees, shrubs, and flowers, as well as container gardens, potted plants, and hanging baskets. Changing the soft elements of the landscape can be an easy way to change the entire look of the outside of the home, especially when using methods such as selecting different annual and perennial flowers for the gardens and flower beds. We will also be able to ensure your garden "suits your needs". If you have very little time to tend to your garden we can advise you on layout and planting schemes. So whether you require a traditional, contemporary or a low maintenance garden we have the expertise and
experience to help you. Not Sure Where To Start....
If you have an idea but are not too sure how it will look or whether it is really what you want then we are able to do 3D mock ups for you. We can provide a 3D mock up, to scale if necessary. This is a fantastic
way of actually being able to see what your ideas will look like when finished. We can offer a basic one for free or if you want a more indepth view this can be done for a small fee. Here are some of the features we can install

HARD LANDSCAPING
Hard landscaping is about more than just paths and driveways, but also includes patios, decking, garden walls, water features and laying slabs for sheds and greenhouses to name a few. The way to ensure that your garden is designed with "you in mind" and your preferences and needs is to think ahead and plan. We have many years of experience of taking a concept and turning it into reality. When planning hard landscaping we will consider all aspects including electrical armoured cables for shed
lighting or driveway lighting. Outdoor taps or anything extra that needs to be finished before the actual "hard landscaping" begins. It is very important that these factors are taken into consideration otherwise you can find yourself having to undo work already done. Surrey Trees and Gardens will carry out a free initial consultation with you to discuss your requirements and this will include an initial study of the area, terrain, possible limitations and also the proper drainage pattern. We are more than happy to arrange for a free assessment of your tree/trees to acertain the best possible way of resolving any problems you may have and provide you with a free quotation. Here are a few examples of our tree surgery expertise. Crown Lifting
This is the pruning/removal of the lowest branches of the tree. This increases the distance between the ground level and the lower crown. This is done to ensure a uniform height from ground level. Carrying out this procedure will not only allow more light into your garden/premises but is also a requirement where footpaths,
roads and signs need to be cleared. Felling
This involves the removal of the tree to ground level wel carry this out using sectional felling whereby the branches and trunk wood is carefully lowered as not to cause damage or destruction to adjacent plants or structures. We will always carry out a comprehensive risk assessment to minimise the possibility of any
collateral damage. Crown Thining
Crown thining is the removal and pruning of smaller branches within the crown of the tree. This will reduce the density of the crown but will not affect or alter the overall size or shape of the tree. This procedure is usually carried out where more light is needed to pass through the tree. Thinning can also be used on younger trees to slow down growth rates on vigorous branches. Crown Reduction
This method will still retain the shape of the tree but will reduce the height and overall spread of the tree. This is carried out by removing the ends of the branches. This is an excellent method to maintain the shape of the tree and help reduce problems caused by oversized trees and roots. Stump Removal
Tree stumps can be left in the ground after felling but this can lead to problems with suckering where new shoots arise from the trunk and roots. We can tackle any size of stump, from just a few inches up to the largest of tree stumps. We are able to grind the tree stumps and surface roots to six inches below ground level. We are also able to poision the roots if you wish to get
rid of the stump completely or build over the area. Poisioning the stump is particularly effective in stopping the tree roots causing problems too patios, foundations, driveways or your neighbours property. Deadwood Removal
Deadwood is a term used to describe dead branches which are located within a living trees crown. We are specialists in removing deadwood
from living trees without causing any further damage to the tree. Dead branches will eventually decay back to the parent stem and can then become a safety hazard especially during windy conditions when
larger pieces can fall and cause injury or damage. This is particularly important if the branches overhang a public road, houses or public areas. Tree Preservation Orders
Many trees on privately owned land are protected either by Tree Preservation Orders or because the property is situated in a Conservation Area. It is a criminal offence to carry out tree surgery or to remove trees protected in these ways without prior consent or notifying the council . Some trees on development sites are also protected by specific conditions on planning permissions to ensure their protection during development. It is extremely important that if you are in any doubt the following steps are carried out.
* Contact the Tree Section to check if your trees are protected by a Tree Preservation Order.
* Check online if your property and trees are within a Conservation Area
* Search Planning Applications online to check if Trees on a development site are protected by planning conditions, and view details of existing decisions. If unauthorised tree pruning or felling takes place both you and your contractor could be prosecuted. If you are not sure how to approach this procedure or simply don't have the time then we can manage the application for you for a small fee.
