Clare's Childminding Registered since November 2009, I received a GOOD in both OFSTED Inspection. I see it as a real privilege to look after children and I thoroughly enjoy it!

Providing fully insured childcare in a home based environment. I aim to provide a home from home for children, where they can have fun, make friends and learn. The children and I attend 2 Toddler Groups and a Childminder Toddler Group on a weekly basis. I have seasonal passes to Twycross Zoo and we regularly visit parks, places of interest and everyday places children would visit with their parent

s, the post office, the supermarket and the garden centre. I never underestimate how difficult it is to leave your child when you go to work, I returned to work full time after having my first son, so can completely empathise with the emotional upheaval and organistion it requires! I'm always happy to help in anyway I can.

Easter Holidays Part 1.

A day an old walled garden, a Giants Garden, a riverbank and Mr Badgers House.

We met our friends for a day in the sunshine, we explored, ran and played. We took time to have a singing session, play football, go for a jog, play Simon says, roll on the grass, a picnic in the sunshine, explored the sensory garden and chased butterflies.
A perfect day.

We had a wedding today. Two of the children wanted to get married so we made it happen. An aisle guarded by elephants, lined with sea shells, a bride and groom, a flower boy, a best man, a chief bridesmaid and a Father figure to give the bride away and a prestigious guest list, clothes of stripes and sparkle, precious jewels from a pirate treasure chest and a lot of love.

It was beautiful! ❤️💙

🥇 CHILDMINDERS & PRIVATE NURSERIES ARE THE GOLD STANDARD 🥇

Once again, private providers across the country are watching as the Department for Education rolls out yet another campaign that pushes school-based nurseries as the gold standard—as if they alone hold the key to quality early education.

🫣How wrong.
🤔How misleading.
😡How damaging.

Because those of us who live and breathe early years know the truth:

✅ We are not just preparing children for school.
✅ We are preparing them for life.

I have a degree in Early Childhood Studies and experience working in a school nursery—and yet, when it came to my own child, I chose a childminder. Why? Because I saw firsthand the flexibility, warmth, and individualised care that childminders provide—something school-based settings simply can’t match.

💡 Flexibility that works for families:
✔️ Wraparound care that fits around real-life schedules.
✔️ Mixed-age settings that foster social and emotional growth.
✔️ A home-from-home environment that nurtures confidence.
✔️ A continuity of care that builds secure attachments.

And yet, despite our qualifications, experience, and proven impact, private, voluntary, and independent providers are being ignored. Pushed aside. Left out of the conversation.

Let’s set the record straight:

❌ We are NOT second best.
❌ We are NOT a stopgap.
❌ We are NOT “just childcare.”

We are highly skilled professionals who are deeply rooted in our communities, trusted by families, and providing outstanding care every single day.

This isn’t about competition—it’s about fairness. About recognition. About ensuring that families are given the full picture, not just a one-sided narrative.

We are the foundation of early years education.

We deserve a seat at the table.

A thing happened today.

We look after a boy who is quiet, he’s confident, super active, a great friend to the kids here, he’s a great all rounder, doesn’t much engage in singing time.

When he started his confidence was low, he’d been in a different setting and came to us not wanting to be touched by us, he wouldn’t eat here and was extremely quiet. Home life was and is a happy one.

I was reminded of his progress today, it came like a bolt out of the blue.

Today whilst the adults were busy changing nappies etc he started a singing time, of his own accord. A three year old and 2 two year olds followed the song and its actions through two verses. He told them to lie down, he began to sing Sleeping Bunnies, paused while they got to their feet, started dancing with his friends, then told them to lie down again and sang a second verse.

My wonderful partner in crime worked so hard with him in the beginning- he gravitated towards her, her gentle, fun and loving nature helped him break down the barriers. And he has grown so much. I didn’t realise how much!

I am so thrilled. I always thought he didn’t like singing time. Turns out, he was watching and learning, waiting to shine. ⭐

Everyday is a learning opportunity when you’re little. We see the joys in the most simple things when we are young.

Last week we had to print off a couple of photos, so Nat and I took the children to our local Asda, (other supermarket cafes are available!)

We decided to go for “a lovely cup of tea.”

The children sat beautifully, chatting and laughing about this that and the other whilst waiting for their tea. We all had a grown up cup, some tea and milk. For some, they are learning to drink from a cup and some can do it already. But taking turns for help, pouring tea and milk, waiting a few minutes for it to cool, sipping tea, learning that drinks are hot, hot, hot, that we need to take care, and enjoying each others company was a great way to spend our morning.

Simple pleasures.

Our day at the zoo!
We went with all our friends and saw so much. We joined in with the show, became really brave and hugged a Gruffalo, we followed the story of the Gruffalo, picnicked, joined a dazzle of Zebras, we saw some of our favourite animals, we waited patiently to look through windows and peepholes, then we let our friends have a turn, we listened and followed instructions, we stayed together and walked as a group. It was a wonderful day.

What a beautiful day at the .

A place of calm, rememberance and history, where our children can run free.

We followed trail, played in the play areas, ate our lunch together, ran with our friends, held hands with those smaller than ourselves, climbed, squealed, discovered textures and surfaces. We talked about the sculptures and explored with our hands.

“It is your garden now, little children,” said the Giant, and he took a great axe and knocked down the wall. And when the people were going to market at twelve o'clock they found the Giant playing with the children in the most beautiful garden they had ever seen.
