We get asked to do all manner of crazy and exciting things but this has got to be one of the whackiest yet! Former English professional goalkeeper turned charity fundraiser, Lloyd Scott MBE is well known for completing all manner of demanding fundraising challenges including the London Marathon in a deep-sea divers suit in 2002, breaking the world record for the slowest marathon time ever.

Well for his final challenge, Lloyd has chosen to attempt the National 3 Peaks next month in his antique diving suit weighing 130lbs to raise money for the charity Lord's Taverners. We're super psyched to be involved with this mammoth challenge by safeguarding Lloyd and his team and guiding him on all 3 peaks, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. The challenge will commence on the 4th October on Ben Nevis and will involve several gruelling days/nights on each peak to complete, probably breaking another record for the slowest 3 peaks challenge ever. Epic!!!

Yesterday Danny, Tim, Josh, Claire and all 17 students from Kendal College reached the summit of Toubkal with help from Abdol, Mohammed and Hassan. It was tough going for some but despite the altitude, the strong team pulled together and summited in very good time. Today a small team also bagged the 2nd and 3rd highest mountain in the Atlas whilst the rest of the group honed their winter skills with Danny in the valley. Another successful 3 nights at the Refuge du la Mouflons. Heading back down tomorrow.

Back in Marrakech to explore and celebrate what has been an outstanding week in the Atlas Mountains. One final meal together then it's back to the UK for the team. Well done to Andrew, Tony, Gary, Chris, Nick, Craig, Rich, James and Danny for taking all the challenges head on.

Yesterday Danny, Abdol and the team climbed the 2nd and 3rd highest mountains in the Atlas Mountains, Timesguida (4088m) and Ouanoukrim (4083m) to complete the big trio over 2 days. An absolutely epic day out with some scrambling sections and varied terrain. Weather conditions couldn't have been better and the team were super strong. Now back in Imlil before heading back to Marrakech for a well earned beer.

On Tuesday, Danny, Abdol, Mohammed and their team of 9 summited Mt Toubkal. Crampons were required until the Col and then it was steady away to the summit. With clear skies, the team were treated to spectacular views and with very few on the mountain, we also had the summit to ourselves. Well done everyone.

The team are now in Aroumd after a quick stop to learn how to make Almond and Argon oil. First sight of the mountains and a brief stroll around Aroumd. Now time to repack the bags with full winter kit for our ascent to the Refuge Du La Mouflons tomorrow morning.

On our way to Imlil today (slowly due to the Marrakech marathon). With high pressure dominating the High Atlas this week, good snow cover and low temperatures, it looks like we're in for a treat.

Today, Danny will be guiding a team of 9 to Morocco on an 8-day trip in the Atlas Mountains. They will learn essential winter skills and hopefully tackle the highest peak in North Africa, Mt Toubkal.

UKML WINTER MT TOUBKAL EXPEDITION
8 DAYS - 25TH JAN -1ST FEB 2020

Join UKML and our in-country team next season for this 8-day expedition into the mighty Atlas Mountains. At 4167m, Mt Toubkal’s summit is the highest point in Northern Africa, an impressive and challenging winter objective. This is a rewarding expedition providing an introduction to high altitude mountaineering.

Day 1 - This 8-day expedition starts in Marrakech where you will have plenty of time to explore this vibrant and bustling city.

Day 2 – From Marrakech you’ll travel by private bus to the mountain villages of Imlil and Aroumd at the start of the trail into the Toubkal National Park. Here the team will meet their support staff and porters and make any final preparations before heading up the mountain.

Day 3 – Leaving Aroumd you’ll ascent the valley through impressive mountain scenery to the Refuge de Les Mouflons, our home for the next 3 nights at 3207m above sea level. The afternoon will be spent learning essential winter skills including movement on snow/ice, use of crampons and ice axe, arresting a slip/fall, kicking/cutting steps etc.

Days 4-6 – We spend 3 nights at the Refuge to give us the best chance of summiting Toubkal. Nestled in the heart of the high Atlas and surrounded by impressive peaks, there are also options of ascending nearby peaks above 4000m including Timzguida (4089m) and Ouanoukrim (4083m). There will also be the opportunity to learn additional winter skills with our experienced, qualified instructors. After completing our chosen objectives, we will descend back to Aroumd in the afternoon of day 6.

Day 7 – Imlil to Marrakech. Arriving back in the city by midday, there will be plenty of time to visit the local bazaars and enjoy some well-earned R&R after the expedition. Our guides will provide you with plenty of options and places to visit during your final afternoon in Morocco.

Day 8 – Departure day.

Price Includes
- All land and domestic travel as per itinerary
- Arrival and departure airport transfers
- Pre-trek accommodation in Marrakech plus breakfast and evening meals
- All accommodation and 3 meals while on the expedition in Aroumd and at the refuge.
- Fully escorted trek with UKML guide, English speaking assistant guides and porters/mules for kit bags
- Wages, equipment, insurance and other facilities for the staff

Not Included
- International Airfare
- Airport Departure excess baggage charges
- Other meals not stated (Lunch and extra meals in Marrakech allow roughly £10 per day)
- Items of personal nature ie. Soft/hard drinks, snacks, tips etc. Personal spending money, Camel rides (£8)
- Personal travel Insurance (a mandatory condition of booking) Please ask us for advice/recommendations
- Medical evacuation in case of emergency or post trek accommodation should you descend or finish the trek early.
