People are always asking "where have you booked recently?"

Vietnam is really popular & I've just booked a solo traveler on a group tour & a couple on their own personalized itinerary.

Check out this itinerary...
10 Day Tour
Discover the essence of captivating Vietnam on this ten-day tour through backstreets, villages, cities and waterways. Trace the east coast on this fast-paced adventure and take in World Heritage-listed landscapes and towns, feel the buzz of bustling cities and fuel yourself with banh mi and condensed milk coffee. As lively as it is lovely, Vietnam can seem an intimidating place to travel, but your local leaders will guide you to the best street food (and tell you how to order it), introduce you to fishermen on the Mekong Delta and give you the inside scoop on the best tailors in Hoi An. This is an adventure full of life, colour and flavour that introduces you to the highlights of this fascinating nation.
🍜 Meals: 8 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners
🚌 Transport: Boat, Motorbike, Overnight sleeper train, Plane, Private Minibus, Taxi, Sampan, Tuk-tuk
🏨 Accommodation: Hotel (7 nights), Overnight boat (1 night), Overnight sleeper train (1 night)
Why you’ll love this trip:
Fall in love with Vietnam one bite at a time, from pho, slurped on a busy street corner to a vegetarian feast in a Buddhist nunnery.
Sail through Halong Bay's limestone karsts and island caves, visit a centre that turns the bay's discarded trash into treasures and spend the night checking out the stars on an overnight cruise.
Travel like a local on a motorbike tour, riding pillion and taking in the historical pagodas, bridges and villages of Hue.
Embrace a slower pace during a private boat tour of the Mekong Delta and meet local craftspeople in the villages that line the river's myriad waterways.
Wander through the remarkably well-preserved streets of Hoi An's Old Town on a guided tour, where elegant wooden buildings line the canals.
Get in touch to find out how you can explore this wonderful country

Final day of our time in India ...
Fabulous 24 hours of absolute luxury at The Imperial New Delhi.
Reminiscent of a 19th-century Indian Palace, in the land of Maharajas and Maharanis, The Imperial New Delhi opened in 1936 as the first hotel in New Delhi. The art deco style is gorgeous. White marble colonnades, beautiful gardens and rooms & suites with Italian marble floors, polished Burma teak, Persian hand-knotted carpets, antique Chandeliers and Rosewood furniture, set the tone.
The hotel has 7500 pictures, so plenty to look at. The service was exceptional and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Day 7 of our Golden Triangle India tour....
Last full day of the tour. Agra fort is another beautiful place to visit with a combination of red sandstone buildings & Taj inspired buildings ...built by the same Emperor!
At each monument we have had a local guide to give us just the right amount of information & time.
After a pit stop on route back to Delhi our final stop was at a spiritual complex Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi. Akshardham means the divine abode of God. It is hailed as an eternal place of devotion, purity and peace. Swaminarayan Akshardham at New Delhi is a Mandir – an abode of God, a Hindu house of worship, and a spiritual and cultural campus dedicated to devotion, learning and harmony. It is a tribute to Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781- 1830), the avatars, divas and great sages of Hinduism.
We weren't allowed to take phones or cameras with us, which felt rather strange for a few hours!! It was built in 2005 & funded entirely by donations. A fascinating place to visit

Day 6 of our Golden Triangle India tour...cont'd..
We pack so much into the days, it's incredible.
For lunch we visited a cafe set up by and for women who survived acid attacks. The stories are so harrowing, what these women have been through is unimaginable, however they have found somewhere to find support & understanding, & it is well worth a visit.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy the visit to the carpet shop, but it was fascinating. Here a co-operative of 2500 families make rugs in the traditional handwoven Persian style. This enables women to do the work in their homes, as many are not permitted to work outside the home. It can take 2 people up to 20 months to complete 1 rug!! The detail & skill required is immense. The patterns are stunning & the rugs so soft underfoot. I particularly liked the part silk one!!
Both these initiatives are supported by Intrepid, & one of the great things about being on a tour is that you are advised by the tour leader where the best places are to buy things.

Day 6 of our Golden Triangle India tour....
We left the village of Karauai in Rajasthan in dense fog & the coldest so far. Our destination being Agra in Uttar Pradesh. The first stop was Fatehpur Sikri which is one of the greatest examples of Mughal architecture in India. It is a Mughal walled city, with a blend of Hindu & Islamic styles, built by the Emperor Akbar & made of red sandstone. Very beautiful. I would have loved to see these magnificent buildings in their prime, as they have not been well maintained until more recently. The designs are gorgeous, with the added treat of monkeys & a new mode of transport; a golf buggy!!

Day 6 of our Golden Triangle India tour ... 7th wonder of the world 🌍
The Taj Mahal is located on the banks of River Yamuna in Agra. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. Constructed entirely out of white marble in the 17th century, Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful monuments in the world. The equivalent cost in the modern world is over £600m!! Every year visitors numbering more than the entire population of Agra pass through the magnificent gates to catch a glimpse of this breathtaking monument! It was mighty busy, but we were still able to find some quieter spots to take in the beauty.

Day 5 of our Golden Triangle India tour...cont'd ..
Whilst staying in the rural village we had the opportunity to look around. The locals were fascinated with us, especially the kids. Some cricket was played, fruit purchased from the market & lots of waving & pictures. Happy smily faces is my memory.
As cows are sacred in India, in rural places they still live in homes as pets, which was fascinating to see.
This village has water butts & LPG but some villages still just use dung cakes for fuel, plus Rajasthan suffers with low rainfall which is unimaginable when temperatures can reach 55!!
Whilst we have our tour guide with us, we also have a local guide in each location which is amazing as we are learning so much!

Day 5 of our Golden Triangle India tour....
This is the most relaxing day on the trip where we stayed in a rural Heritage property.
The property is from 1700s & we had it exclusively for our group. It is beautiful with a lovely garden.
The day started with rooftop yoga & ended with a G&T on the rooftop terrace, listening to the birds, with paraqueets & peacocks around us, watching the sunset... very special.

Day 4 of our Golden Triangle India tour... Cont'd...
The days are jam packed with one brilliant experience after another.
A stop at the water palace, a Bollywood movie, block printing at a fabric shop, shopping!, finished off with dinner where they filmed the 2nd Marigold Hotel film.. complete with dancers & puppet show!

Day 4 of our Golden Triangle India tour ....
The Amber Fort is a beautiful palace located on a hillside 11 kilometres from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. It was originally built for the King & his 12 wives & numerous concubines. It's the biggest tourist attraction in Jaipur & a must see.
With Muslim & Hindu designs it is a stunning combination.
Sadly, they still use elephants to transport tourists to the top, or you take the more responsible option of a jeep.
We also visited a Step well in the local village where women used to come together over hundreds of years to cook, chat & wash clothes. They were guarded due to the constant threat of wild animals, especially leopards! 🐆

Up, up & away....
Day 4 of our Golden Triangle India trip...
What a way to start the day!!
After a 5.30am start we reached the balloon team on the outskirts of Jaipur.
The morning was fresh & dark.
Ascension was at 4 minutes to sunrise, so there was already a glow in the sky followed by the glorious reds & oranges as the sun rose.
It was spectacular.
It was a still morning & felt very calming & quiet, except for the air filling the balloon.
Flying over a mountain range was very cool, above an ancient fort, even brushing the top of some trees (the pilot said this was on purpose!).
Landing was perfect with the basket staying upright, & we were greeted by the local villagers who were fascinated by both the balloon & us! It's very normal here to be asked to take pictures with locals as they like to show friends & family they have met westerners, so you feel like a celebrity😂
