Did you know that spending time near or on the water is good for your health? 🌊
Today is , and we want to focus on the powerful impact that the ocean has on our physical and mental wellbeing 💙 Last week, the South West Coast Path received the accolade of being the world's happiest walk - and perhaps it's no wonder, as our 630-miles of National Trail wind around the south west coastline, dipping down to secluded coves and bays for wild swimming; passing by surfing hot spots; and greeting us with views for miles over the crashing waves 🐬
Our project is certainly testament to green and blue spaces having a positive impact on wellbeing 😌 In fact, of the people that have come regularly to our walks:
🧠 99% of participants agreed that the walks had improved their mental health
🫀 93% of participants agreed that the walks had improved their physical health
💬 "Walking for me ticks so many boxes, it’s getting outside whilst carrying out a physical activity, its connecting with nature, whilst meeting new people and exploring new places. I have learnt from volunteers, partners and our participants about the history of Cornwall, alongside our amazing local flora and fauna. I have seen first-hand the benefits of walking the SWCP, not only in myself but in those who join our walks." says Jack, CPC Project Officer for Cornwall.
