From sharpening their entrepreneurial skills to building stronger relationships with fellow consultants and Beachcomber experts, this was a money-can’t-buy experience!

💸Spending on holidays is at record levels!

And not only is demand up, but an increasing number of consumers are now choosing to ask a travel consultant for advice. According to ABTA’s 2024-25 Holiday Habits Report, the number of consumers booking with a travel expert has risen by 4% to 38%, with a significant rise in younger family clients!

⬆️ And Phocuswright’s research also shows increasing demand for agents.
“Booking travel has become increasingly complex. This is not even so much to do with the ‘pandemic effect’ anymore – there’s a colossal amount of information and inspiration available online, through countless different sources. Although most people do enjoy an element of research and choice when booking travel, using a travel agent can eliminate the need for extensive online trawling, as the agent can handle all the details and bookings on behalf of the customer. This convenience saves time and effort, especially for complex itineraries or group travel,” says Eugene Ko, marketing director at Phocuswright.

Is now a good time to start a travel business?

❗At the ABTA Travel Convention this week, ABTA board members - including our very own non-executive director Derek Jones - agreed that a dip in consumer confidence in the economy has not dampened demand for travel.

In fact, spending on holidays is at record levels, according to ABTA chief executive Mark Tanzer.
💸 And our consultants taking home record-breaking commissions would agree with that.

And if you need proof that the package holiday market continues to grow, did you know that three of the biggest UK holiday companies are all upping their capacities for 2025?

EasyJet holidays chief executive Garry Wilson is confident it can grow the business another 20% next year, while Jet2holidays announced its capacity would be about 6% higher (it is currently licenced to carry 6.7 million passengers a year!).
