Remember when we used to call ‘wild swimming’ just ‘swimming’?
If you are yet to try wild swimming, you are definitely missing out.
It seems that swimming and being outdoors is not just beneficial for your physical health but also for your mental wellbeing. Plunging into cold water leads to the release of “happy hormones”, like serotonin and dopamine. Therefore, it’s no surprise that so many people, including the team here at Great Escapes Wales, find wild swimming so addictive.
We love Lake Geirionydd, just 15 minutes drive from Trefriw or Llanrwst. The lake is almost a mile long but is never any deeper than 50 ft (15 m). With plenty of place to park, it’s the perfect place to take a dip, paddle board or kayak.
If we haven’t yet persuaded you on wild swimming, Lake Geirionydd is the only lake in Snowdonia to allow power boats and water skiing too!
