Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Our Happy Place!
International Day of the Tropics - June 29..The International Day of the Tropics celebrates the extraordinary diversity of the Tropics while highlighting its unique challenges such as climate crisis, deforestation, logging and urbanisation.. @carmenroberts_travels saw first hand how the mangrove forests on the island of Siargao were a valuable line of defence against super Typhoon Odette, that ravaged the Philippines in 2021. The Del Carmen Mangrove Reserve spans 4800 hectares and is one of the largest in the country. The Tropics have just over half of the world’s renewable water resources (54%), yet almost half their population is considered vulnerable to water stress..Biodiversity is greater in the Tropics, but LOSS of biodiversity is also greater in the Tropics than the rest of the world..Double tap if you’ve been to the tropics and care about its future.. follow for more travel content.

Tips for booking cheaper flights.
.
1. Book early. Try book at least 6 months in advance. Long haul flights can be up to 54% cheaper if you book 178 days in advance.
.
2. Reserve now. We usually have the option to reserve your flights, so you don’t need to worry about prices going up.
.
3. Travel off peak. Go during the shoulder season, this refers to the months and weeks before or after the summer peak. Traditionally, good deals can be had in March and June and also September and October.
.
4. Leave midweek. Flights are cheaper on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
.
5. Choose your destination wisely. Get more bang for your buck if you travel to countries with weaker currencies. For those in the UK, Japan and India are currently good choices.
