Benefact Group Giving Money Away!

Charities can receive grants of £1000 - all they need are their supporters to nominate them - so you can help your favourite causes without costing you a penny.

Our friends at The 2874 Trust have been fortunate more than once in the past - you could help them again.

A new round of grants has started with the new year - the first draw is on 27th January - but previous nominations are not carried over - so a request for a new nomination please. The link below will take you to the nomination page.

3850 has been in the paint shop this week. Weather conditions and time prevented the final top coat being applied before entering service, this work and all the finishing off sign written details have now been completed by Scott Barnes to whom we are most grateful 🙂

Of course during this weekends Gala the opportunity was taken to pair up two Dinmore Manor Locomotive Ltd owned locomotives. BR (WR) Manor No. 7820 'Dinmore Manor' seeing her final gala event before overhaul is paired with recently overhauled GWR 2884 No. 3850 at Laverton on a Cheltenham Racecourse service yesterday. 27/10/24

A last chance to see 7820 on the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway this Sunday. This is her last visit away from her home railway at the GWSR before her withdrawal for overhaul in January.

We had a spontaneous treat for passengers on the 13:15 Toddington-Cheltenham Racecourse today! 3850 jumped on the front of 2807 and was captured working its first loaded passenger train as they departed Winchcombe.

Congratulations to the Dinmore Manor Locomotive group for all of the hard work they have put in to getting 3850 back up and running after its 10 year overhaul. The locomotive is in its final stages of testing before it can be signed off to work passenger trains.

Christmas is coming early for DMLL with Santa delivering our boiler for 3850 later today, only so much weight you can get on a sleigh on the big day I guess.....

Another significant milestone today with the successful completion of hydraulic testing for 3850's boiler earlier this morning. Steam testing is due to commence very soon followed by the transport of 3850's frames for fitment of the boiler. Photos courtesy of Greg McGill of Rileys.

Red for stop? not quite....

A pause at Toddingtons outer home signal on what may well have been 7820's penultimate day in service in late September. Soon after she was withdrawn from service for investigative works as part of a potential boiler extension inspection just prior to the expiry of her 10 year certificate or for overhaul depending on the outcome of the aforementioned inspection. We are pleased to able to say that as of this mornings hot exam we are now 'green to go!' with an extension through to January 2025 :) Just reward for our hard working teams efforts over recent weeks to achieve this whilst also maintaining progress on 3850 in preparation for her to be reunited with her boiler very shortly.

7820 is returning to service tomorrow morning followed by the GWSR Autumn Showcase Gala this weekend: https://www.gwsr.com/galas/autumn-showcase before heading to the SDR once again for Polar Express duties.
