A trip to Quebec City will allow you to do both!

Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America and has a European feel thanks to its colonial French architecture. The Old Town’s cobbled streets are lined with quaint shops and delicious bistros, all decorated for Christmas. Stroll through the traditional Christmas market. Go ice skating at one of many rinks dotted around the city.

For a bit of a thrill, do the Au 1884 toboggan run, an annual tradition in the city - zoom down icy tracks on a wooden sled, reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour.

Then combine a stay here with some time in one of the top 4 ski resorts in the province: Mont-Sainte-Anne, Massif de Charlevoix, Stoneham, and Le Relais (only 15 minutes from the city centre). The size and style of the hills and the amount of snow that the area gets, make it a very popular skiing destination.

I’m talking about shared experiences, ones that you’ll both love!

Holidays are the perfect time to spend quality time with your loved ones. There’s lots of time to be able to connect with your kids but there’s a danger that it can sometimes feel forced or involve things they don’t particularly want to do (or that you don’t want to do!).

Some of the things I consider are:

* Do they have a particular hobby or interest? How could you find a way of them doing this on holiday?

* Is there anything they’re desperate to see?

* Is there a particular event they would love?

* Are they adventurous?

* What makes them excited?

Or it might be a case of thinking about your mode of transport: doing a food market tour on a Vespa rather than walking, arriving at your hotel by zip wire rather than jeep, doing a city tour in a side car rather than a bus.
